Default Is it safe to remove the front splash guard?

Well I was passing a window today, checking out my car and realized my splash shield was hanging down. I went home removed it and saw that it was cracked in half. I'm going to repair it tomorrow, but is it safe to drive around without it off because I noticed my crank shaft pulley exposed from under the car.

You're cool but, try not to drive through water ponds or rain at the mean time.

I like to leave mine on (even though my friends swear I should trash it), because Honda had to have put it there for a reason, right? I do have to remove mine when I get an alignment, though, because it tends to block the laser beams.

If you can easily replace it, do it, Honda did have a reason for installing it...

One thing you will notice if you drive through water without it on you will get dirt and crap under the door. Had to drive mine after loosing one and while dealership ordered them. Drove through one storm while I was still in Fl and had all sorts of dirt toward front of door sill (underneath where hinges are).

I would replace it because debris can damage things like the radiator and what not.

Same thing happened to me and I replaced it as soon as I could order one

He's talking about the splashguard underneath the front of the engine, not the fender liners.

I wondered that..but everyone treated them as if it were a fender liner, so as did I

Screw the splash guards...i wouldn't spend the $$. But thats just me personally

Sorry about that. I've gone through a couple of these too. Not as big of deal to me, but its pretty cheap to replace. I had one that was split in the middle and I just zip tied together until a small tap of it started hangng down. In the pics from my last rack event at Laguna you can see it hanging down. An earlier one must have been damaged more toward the front because it came off while I was doing 90 down I-280 one day.

My wagon is missing the splash guard, and I get a nice lovely squeal for a while if I drive through a puddle
