Default slightly OT: how to ship LARGE items?

I need to ship things like rear hatch, rear quarter panel, and a door.....

Where would I go, how much would I expect to pay for shipping?

Thanks!

i'd say around ~200-250.

you'd need to go freight.

truck frieght is correct, price is off a little.

the door should cost no more than 40 or so, hatch, 60-70, rear quater, 30 maybe.

For those items you might have to construct a box inorder to ship. Start with a pallet and build a box around it.

FyrStarter those prices are real cheap, what freight company do you use? I use CTI and EDI who charges $120 for shipping a bodykit. Size of box is 78x24x30 and weight is about 40 pounds.

Ken - I've had a great serive from Yellow Freight (www.yellowfreight.com). You can drop off your box/pallet at their hub in Marietta and they will ship to most major cities. The prices are cheaper if you have the buyer pick up the goods at the hub locations. Or, they do deliver to the front door, but it's a lot more expensive.

When I had my 5-lug freighted from Miami, it was around $150 for ~150lbs.

I'll find out who shipped my cage, but that was a pallet weighing over 150lbs and cost $65.

Edit: Pretty sure it was "AAA Cooper" or something to that effect.

your right dave, i forgot to factor in the locale. it depends where you are shipping from as well.

btw, mailbox etc is overpriced here. about 3-4 times the regular price of shipping ups, etc.

I've shipped exhausts through FedEx Ground....that's just about the cheapest national chain of couriers.

Look in your phone book.

Thanks $65 is a lot cheaper than $120. Does AAA Cooper have a website?

you'd be surprised.. i've shipped some pretty random stuff(basically, half a civic Si) through them.. they are very overpriced though.. i use UPS Ground and pack it myself for small -> medium items.. i've never shipped anything larger than a dashboard though..

I had my ITR suspension & wheels shipped Cali to Texas for cheap

Edit: I have a commercial account at work so my price was really low. If you can ship to a business you will avoid large residential fees.

honestly I have no idea. They were selected by the shipper (Kirk Racing). It may have been ACooper Trucking (ACT) actually. I didn't find the receipt but that sounds right cause I was thinking the name matches a manufacturer of car parts..

I had some BAD luck with watkins. Just on the service side, the parts were delivered without damage (in this case a $3000 set of speakers and subwoofer). They sceduled for one day (don't recall which day) for 5:00PM, then called and said they couldn't make it, rescheduled for noon (would have had to come home from work but oh well), they called again, rescheduled again, this time for 6pm one day later, then ended up delivering it on the original day at 8am before I left for work (without notice, walked outside and there was a semi blocking the driveway).

they could have improved I'm sure. but my experience with them in tampa was not so great.

I ship 2-4 pallets of chrome wheels through them a week, no problems.
