Default Type R shifter: polish or black? Did a search...

Not that it matters but: I noticed some people selling their ITR shifters and noticed that they had a polished finish whereas mine is black. Maybe the JDM one is polish?

My 01 had a polished shifter. I took my JDM boot off before I sold it and saw that it was polished.

i believe it relates to what year the car is. i know newer ITR's have the polished shifter, my girlfriends brothers JDM ITR motor came with a black shifter though.

Yes, on ITR's where the boot attached to the shift **** (i.e. '97/'98) the lever is black, whereas on the the ITR's with a partially exposed shifter, the lever is polished. Interesting, because I seem to recall Mike K saying the part numbers for the shifters were the same. Perhaps Honda began making all of the levers polished after a certain year.

Would somebody mind posting the black shifter?!?!? I have never hear/seen of this shifter. I thought that they were all polished. I did not get my car with the stock **** (2001)

It's brushed aluminum, not polished.

1997/1998 = Black
2000/2001 = Silver

Chris, who doesn't understand why it's such a big deal.

Mine looked much more "polished" than "brushed", and I'm fairly certain it's not aluminum.
