whats the best choice for the best whp in a
civic hatch 94 si. was planning on doing H22 conversion but have thought it over and seems to be to much headache for a daily driver. want something that is gonna produce good amounts of power for not to much money under 3G's.

well for 3g's...depending on if you have a hook up on an install or not...gsr might be pushin it. Im sure you can do an ls no prob for that amount but what are your plans afterwards...NA or turbo? ls def a better motor to turbo but after the motor swap and adding a turbo kit your gonna be well over 3g's guaranteed. I'd say go for the gsr and keep it all motor...one of my boyz did a gsr swap into his si hatch and he's runnin high 13's w/ I/H/E/stg 3 CM
thats pretty ****** quick

my buddy had an ls in a hatch, he didn't turbo it he just did a cam and header, he whooped on a lot of people. i would like to do trubo, but how reliable is it, withougt rebuilding your engine. and how much boost can you push on stock internals. thanks for your input. i wanna be right in the 13's range, i just dont know if i wanna spend the loot for a GSR, Ls i heard have a lot of trouble getting traction thru first and second with trubo? desicions desicions?
i def understand you when you say you dont want to spend the $..believe me dogg..im a cheapass..all about saving $ but if you really considered running a turbo on an ls motor or any motor for that matter...you cant half *** it..its only going to create probs for you in the long run in which youd be dumping more $ into to fix ****... point being... youd def have to upgrade parts...clutch, exhaust to a min 2.5" but better at 3", fuel system, rods, manifold... all which in turn is going to up the price...i dont know..to my mind and everybody will feel diff about this matter but turbo=probs id say if you had a daily driver other than your hatch and you had the loot..then yeah, slap a turbo on that badboy and make it your proj car but on the real just get a gsr...cant go wrong
i'll post dude, thanks for the feedback. I am not one to spend mad money on something that is gonna break when beaten, cause lets be realistic. Who isn't gonna beat there turbo car. its turbo for god sake, made to be beaten. Gsr is prolly what i'm gonna end up doing. if not an Ls with a bunch Of mods, H22 def out of the picture for this project. If you have any feedback about what all is needed for a gsr swap in an Eg hatch let me know. i have heard there can be problems with wiring it up.. Vtec of course but thats one little wire. Hit me back up man. Oh where you from anyways?
from northern VA..ill talk to my boy and find out some 411 for you..i def think an NA gsr into a hatch is tight...super sleeper! but ill get back to you

hookin it up dude.. Bump, I'm either doin a GSR or H22 i still don't know get the 411 and help me come to a desicion thanks man
heres the way i usually break it down for people who come to be looking for swaps:
if you want raw power, go with the h22...
but if you want a better platform to work from go with the b18c1...
if you want to turbo but dont want to mess with stock internals b18b1...
IMO
hatches with h22 are crazy fast though, but if you go for that think about upgrading the suspension nicely!

I'll sell you a complete 94 GSR w/ 80,000 miles, all stock hit in driver side and can be driven perfectly well, if you can get to Macon, GA you can drive it home...$3500, only thing changed is it doesn't have the GSR wheels anymore.

BTW, no grinds, new clutch and timing belt water pump.
I still have it, no pics though, all I can say is it's worth it, suspension, engine, interior, ALL glass is good, etc.
Go for a civic type R. They run around 3 to 4 g's. My boy has a gsr swap and he got smoked by a civic type r swapped.
it realy depends on what kind of hook up you have but the best thing i can think 0f is a complete B16a1 swap that way you still have money to be able to buy cams and cam gears and get a GSR ecu and then the basic bolt ons and your **** will smoke!!!
I really think it depends what you want to do with it. If you want an all motor setup, get a B18c1. It is an excellent motor and there is a lot of parts for it. The B16 is not as strong as a B18 for obvious reasons. If you plan on leaving the internals and valvetrain stock you might want an R motor of some kind. That might be gettng a little pricey.....
If you are buiding a turbo car go with the B18B. You can save some money for the turbo set up that way.
H22= too much hassle.
