bought ground controls - found out something i didnt want to about them
i bought ground control coilovers for koni yellows from diabloautosports.com a while ago, and i just got my shocks recently and was going to install them this weekend.. but i looked at the coilovers and on the springs it says "GC200.64.67" on the front and "GC180.64.44" on the rear.. i realized that that means the spring rates are 200f and 180r? wtf?!? i remember seeing on diabloautosports' website, they had 2 different GC's, one called "ground controls - limited edition" and "ground controls - koni ed" and i bought the "koni ed" ones. i just did a search and found out that these "limited edition" ones have a softer spring rate than normal ones.. did i get the limited edition? holy **** im pissed. i was expecting the normal 350ish front and 300ish rear spring rates, not this. what can i do? i tried going to diabloautosports.com to look up their website again, but its down. wtf can i do? i want to get the normal spring rate GC's.. i didnt know i was buying these "limited edition" ones. please help.
the 200 and the 180 don't refer to the spring rate. I forget the equation to figure out the rate, based on those numbers. Just call ground control and ask them, I did and they had no problem telling me the rates. I think those are like 300f 250r or something.
well i know that the reason why diabloautosports.com site is down is because the owner closed the business because it was too time consuming. i'm not sure what you can do maybe contact ground control? maybe if you have the receipt and original box you can exchange them. just becareful because with my old LS i tried dealing with ground control and they messed up my order.

i called ground control and they said the number on the spring is not the actual spring rate, but it is the length. and i saw this thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=381532 .. and they said the "limited edition" is a softer spring rate. but then the guy at ground control just told me that every normal GC coilover setup that they sell is infact called the "limited edition" and the ones that are NOT "limited edition" are when people request custom spring rates or whatever. he told me the part number on the springs are not the spring rates, and my rates are 380f and 250(or something) rear.. i'd like to beleive that, because that's what i wanted. im just confused about what i read in that thread. hopefully what the GC guy told me is the truth. just to make me feel better, does anybody have a picture of somebody else's ground controls, where it says the part number on them? mine says "GC200.64.67" is that what everyone else's says?

Yeah, that's what the guy told me. The GC's guys know that stuff so definitely trust what they say.

well I will definitely be ordering Koni GC's w/ custom rates directly from GC.

It's probably in kg/cm or some other meteric measurement. I ordered mine in ft/lbs and the last number was representative of the stiffness i ordered. Due to where they're made, look into a good old conversion to find out ft/lbs.
Although i can tell you right now, tehy're 380/250.

The part numbers for the Eibach ERS springs that you get when you order custom rates from GC always has this kind of part number: 800.250.0450, which means an 8" free length spring, 2.5" inside diameter, and 450 lbs/in spring rate. I don't know why the springs that come w/ standard GC's have a different type of number.

alright yea im thinking that i did get the right ones afterall... what a relief. if they are the 380/250 or whatever the normal spring rate is, then im happy. i was just confused by what i had read earlier, and that post (that i linked above) scared me. and yes i did notice the "eibach" logo on the spring.. i just thought that the eibach spring they sent me was of a less agressive spring rate, therefore shafting me.
the part number on them? mine says "GC200.64.67" is that what everyone else's says?
Call GC and they can tell you the rates.
i remember seeing on diabloautosports' website, they had 2 different GC's, one called "ground controls - limited edition" and "ground controls - koni ed" and i bought the "koni ed" ones.
correct, the number after the last "." is the spring rate in kg/mm (missing the decimal, so kg/cm if you want to be **** about it) for the conversion from kg/mm to lbs/in just multiply by 55.88
Don't know if this helps you or not, but I have the ground controls fitted for the Koni's and they are 350 front and 250 rear.
call ground control...
AND..
worse case scenario u can always purchase custom order springs from them...
just the springs...
