Default short ram intake on 95 LS. Is it worth it?

I just bought a 95 LSS 4 door with a five speed manual that is completely stock. I have a k&n short ram intake in the garage which I would like to install. I know the cold air intake is the better choice but I'm wondering what the average horsepower increase is? does anyone have any dyno results? I'd rather go stock and keep it quiet if i'm only going to increase one or two horses, but if there is a substantial gain then i guess it's worth it to install it. Where are the gains most noticable? mid range? top end? thanks!

With the short ram, You are not really going to gain anything, and may lose power because you'll just be sucking in hot air from the engine. It might be worth it if you routed some cold air to your filter, kind of like a ram air setup.

This may sound dumb but how about installing the filter and putting the stock box on it. I've seen it done but I'm not sure if that would be a major restriction.

Thanks.

Hmm. so...no real horsepower gains but more noise... well, as the soup **** would say "no intake for you!"

Thanks for the replies guys!

Wrong. You will gain a few HP, its not just noise. However, a CAI will net you more power.

thanks for the info guys. Besides AEM CAI, which one is good? What horsepower gains will I see with the B18b motor? I just want to make a little more power without making alot a noise, so an aftermarket exhaust is pretty much out of the question, unless someone makes a quiet one. I don't think my three little girls would appreciate all the noise.

It won't be loud unless you're wide open throttle. Just driving around it'll sound stock. I'd install it since you have it laying around. Might as well put it to some use. In the meantime, save for a cold air.

why do you even quote that postwhore tool boy? are you his buddy or somethin? hahahahah

if you already have the short ram, just install it. im sure you wont lose any power... you will actually be freeing up any restrictions and make your engine breathe better.
