Default how to test TPS?

how do you test the TPS? i know you have to use a volt meter..do you do it while the car is running or when it off? which wire out of the 3 do you test..what voltage should i be getting?how do i know if it good or bad? thanks

turn engine off
disconect the 3P conector on the trotle angle sensor
turn the ignition switch ON
measure voltage between yel/wht terminal and grn/wht terminal
is there aprox .5V????

IF NO
measure voltage between yel/wht and body ground
is there .5V?? if yes repair open in grn/wht wire between ecu C12 and trotle angle sensor
if no turn the ignition switch off
conect the har ness between ecu and conector
turn the ignition ON. measure voltage between C13(+) and C12 (-).
is there aprox .5V??? if yes repair open in yel/wht between ecu and trotle angle sensor
if no substitute the ecu for a known good one and recheck. if voltage its available replace ecu

IF YES
turn ignition OFF
reconect the 3P conector conect the harness between ecu and conector. turn ignition siwtch ON
measure voltage between C7(+) and C12(-)
if voltage its aprox .5V, at full close trotle(applying vacumm to the dashpot diapraaghm), and aprox .5V at full open trotle? Note: there should be a smooth transition between 0.5V to 4.5V as the trotle its depressed
if yes substitute a known good ecu . if symptom goes away replace ecu

to test it properly, you need an oscilloscope...
