turboing my gsr.
i wanna turbo my gsr but ive heard its bad to turbo a stock motor, is this true??? if so what do i need to do to my motor to make it reliable about make it a daily driven car also?
i was thinking about not boosting around town... would that cause any wear on the motor? and leave my car reliable and i wouldnt have to worry about it not starting up one morning?
no need to search ill answer it.. 5 psi and under shouldnt do much to your car.. just make sure you upgrade your fuel set up at the least.. like a vortec fmu or some sort...but honestly.. whos boost there car and not try to boost more
.. jsut for starters try that...

there is nothing wrong with turboing your stock gsr!!!!
there are a few things that need to be done in order to do so.
i have a stock ls with a t3/t4 on a stock motor, other than springs and retainers, and i had boost at 10psi with no problem.
the main thing is fuel. you have to have the proper mixture.
of course you motor has higher compression so you will need to get a headgasket, i would suggest getting it from inline pro.

no bottom end work necessary....do a compression test....and get a great fuel management system + go to a respected tuner...and voila your good till about 11psi then your map sensor is gonna make you throw a CEL....keep it at 8 and you'll be happy
me and my friend did it , he's a great Tuner and i try to learn from him
Boosted HYbrid is his name on here. everything he touches makes some pretty impressive power

i have a gsr to and im in the middle ofbuilding a cutom turbo for it. its better to peice one togther cheaper plus you get what you need some parts that come in a pre made kit contain little cheap peices you dont even need...
first you should replace yuor rods and pistons(&rings)people say you might not need to but itsa really good idea to.
if you dont plan on getting your bottom end resleeved than maybe you should look into getting a good block guard...
but your bottom end after doing rods pistons block guard should handle 15 psi track and 7-10 street assuming you dont beat the car every second you have it. but i wouldnt personally just go and push 15 psi daily driving..
resleeve your bottom end do rods and psitons and you have yuor self a nice daily driver, but detonation is going to accur reguardles so be ready...

also i forgot go with a hondata set up or what ever yuor local tuner is custom t using but wih the hondata you can have the most power at the utmost reliablity...you can get like 30 miles to the gallon too wih a good tuning, due to the car being in vacume...
youll be fine boosting your gizzer. do a compression test to make sure your engine is healthy. i would not run no more than 7psi on your gsr... which is definitely a good amount of boost to handle the competition. get it tuned with Hondata or an AEM EMS... and you can run 9psi safely. building the block is a good thing... but not really required for a moderate amount of boost.
