What do I need to do about torn CV boot?
When I was under my car I noticed grease below the boot. Either the clamp or boot is torn and some people say to get the boot replaced or just get new axles. So when I go to the shop what should I tell them I need to get done and does anyone have a price range I can expect to pay?
Thanks

Bare minimum the boot should be replaced. If it is a small hole, the joint itself should be OK. Just depends on how long the hole was there and how much dirt got in and if there's any damage to the joint from it.
No idea on price range, I do that kind of stuff myself.

Replacing or rebuilding is going to depend on if the joint is ruined or not. If the CV grease is gone and the joint is making creaking or popping noises, then replace it. If the CV boot still has a decent amount of grease in it and not making noises then rebuild it.
As for how much it costs...It cost me thirty dollars for the OEM CV boot replacement kit and labor was free ie did the work myself. HTH

a place in Orlando called the CV Joint fixed mine for like 12 bucks in about 8 minutes. see if there's something equivalent near you, 12 bucks is very much worth the money vs. the time and effort of dealing with that nasty crap gettin everywhere
