Default Junkyard HIDs?!? What cars ballasts will work?!? (searched)

I was wondering, if I went to a junkyard, what car should I look for to get the HID system out of and use for my car?!? (which is the easiest to get at?) I know it wont be plug and play, I will have to do some wire work (im good at that stuff). Has anybody ever tried this, and is there a particular car I should try and get the HIDs/projectors from.

I have seen the post of the Audi projectors, If I see an audi I will take the projectors; but I am more interested in the HID system it self. Also, any idea how much they would charge me for these? Just a thought.

Well, i got my HID's off an Acura CL-S and most ballasts should be compatible with your car. Most OEM ballast only consume 35 watts of power. Your low beams i think use 45 watts of power. Its pretty simple if you're good with wiring. There will be 2 wires ( pos. and neg.). All you need to do is connect those wires to your low beam wires. Just connect the positives and negatives and you're good. Make sure the bulbs are in and test out the bulbs. the OEM ballasts have a different connector to the bulbs compared to the retrofit bulbs so make sure that you have the matching connecting ends so that they fit. If you use standard HID bulbs then you will need to do some modifications. you can PM me or email me if you need some help getting those bulbs into the housing of your Teg headlights if thats where they're going. I posted up some instructions on a thread about getting HID's into Non HID JDM headlights so if you can find that thread, i got some info. I don't have any pics so hang in there with me but find the thread and let me know if you need help.

my ballast and bulbs are out of a newer cadillac and everything worked out ok in terms of hooking them up and turning on. my only problem is that i believe i need different bulbs due the caddy being a reflector lens and my car having projectors. my light ouput is not what i expected

All of the ballasts can work....just try to get D2S bulbs...not D2R

BMW X5, 5 Series are very similar to the Phillips kits.
