Default oil pan install..

I'm installing a new p72 oil pan in my GSR b/c the old one got cracked open by a rock. I thought all i had to do was take off the header and remove the pan, but some of the bolts are being covered by a piece of metal connected to the tranny. Does anybody have step by step instructions on how to install an oil pan, i don't want to **** anything up, or run into anything else unexpected.

That should simply be a flywheel sheild. You can remove it without any concerns. I don't even have one on my car.

I believe it's just a few bolts and it comes right off.

I was just under the car recently but I don't remember exactly what it looked like. I do know that there shouldn't be any large bolts holding it on. From what I remember, there are angle brackets held on by smaller bolts. The only large ones I can think of are the big 17" holding the tranny on and the ones for the rear mount.

there is nothing to mess up. Its realllllllly easy. Just take off all the bolts of the flywheel cover......then the bolts on oilpan. Simple as that. You have to be a real idiot to mess anything that easy up.

Make sure you check out the oil pan's gasket and see if it's alright. If it looks like it's in bad shape replace it. clean off the pan and the block nicely and bolt it back up. Torque everything down to spec in a criss cross pattern. I used a gasket sealant when putting it back on for a turbo install.

What bolts do i have to take off for the flywheel cover? I see a total of 6 different sized bolts on there right now.
Also, if any of you guys have a 1 piece header, how did u get it to clear stock integra fans, that **** is a PITA.

When you torque the oil pan back down, make sure you only do it hand tight... it will feel like it's too loose but if you tighten it too much, the gasket will crimp and oil will leak... I learned this the hard way. I torqued it exactly to spec (helm's manual) but there is still a corner that bulges slightly. Oh, well... it isn't leaking.

Not to be rude or anything, but JUST TAKE THE BOLTS OFF. Seriously, the bolts you see are the bolts holding it on. That's all those bolts do. Take them off (there are 5 or 6 and they're mostly different sizes) and the metal shield will fall right off. Don't ask any more damn questions untill it's off.
