OIL PAN REMOVAL!!!! (headache help!)
ok so i am now at the oil pan section of my install and i am somewhat confused. there are about 15 bolts that line the pan, i assume these are for the gasket cause i undid all but two and it didnt move, then i saw on the deeper side of the oil pan that there are two bolts that go horizontal to the ground, these apear to be my ticket out! however how the hell do i get the shallow (passanger side) of the pan off, it appears that the tranny is blocking me!! can anyone walk me through this please!

I knwo what you are talking about, the metal plate is the tranny bracket (or something...) it's kinda hard to explain, but just follow the direction of the plate and undo the bolts, I think there are two bolts that hold the plate..

don't know if you did this already but, you have to remove the rear engine stiffner for and (if you have a gsr engine) front engine stiffner and flywheel cover. that is if you have the exhaust manifold off. it is a straightforward procedure. just unbolt the bolts in a criss cross pattern and drop the pan. when you install the oil pan hand tighten the bolts in a criss cross pattern as well and torque it down. i went this procedure as well. any more questions just reply and i'll see if i can help, i also have a helms manual as well to answer your questions for you. hth

Re: OIL PAN REMOVAL!!!! (boostedeg6)
OK, I am quoting this from a guy on the D16 turbo forum for a Greddy kit install on a B16, but it is the same concept.
remove the two supports that hold the transmission and engine together. They are held in place with a 12mm and 17mm bolts. Once the two brakets are out of the way then remove the transmission inspection cover(12mm,10mm). Now, all the oil pan bolts should be exposed - all the bolts on the oil pan are 10mm and are not on tight, keep this in mind when reinstalling the pan.
Well, this is the info that I plan on using when I install my Drag kit this summer. Though I will have quite a few questions about the additional fuel equipment, so I hope you can possibly help me when I get to that point.
Good luck
