I'd say shortly after rev limit.
everyone underestimates the SOHC valvetrain. Honda just doesn't let their dseries rev to 8000 because they didn't want to take the spotlight off their bseries
I'd say shortly after rev limit.
Not really. More like around 8200rpms. I've known many to shift @ 7800 on stock z6 & y8 valvetrains. The stock cam can even still make power past redline.

actually go here to Mista Bones post on the d-series board. It shows a dyno of the car still making power @ the cutoff. no drop @ 6600 rpms. read the post. http://pub143.ezboard.com/fhondadser...icID=213.topic
and yes they are talking about mini-mes in the thread, but the car in the dyno is a d16z6. i cant find the dyno that goes to 7800, but trust me it still makes power. D16Y8 actually has a more lift than the B16A2
well I don't think honda would be dumb enough to rate their HP at a lower rating than they do. for example a d16y8 makes 127whp at 6600(albeit this is on an engine dyno), Im pretty sure they would rather display the highest HP available, which falls at 6600, instead of lesser figures at 7200

i put up the wrong post that post was for Mista Bone's d15b7. i cant find the one on his d16z6. my dyno shows that it still makes power at 7200 though, i just dont have a scanner. and no it is not dumb to rate their HP at a lower rating. Honda is notorious for underating horsepower. The B16 has also proven to put out more like 172 flywheel hp instead of 160 flywheel hp. The D16 has done the same. The reason is: Keep the spotlight on the more expensive acura integra gsr.

lol..way to go!!!
btw: i used to have a "stock" ex, with the d16y8 and it did seem like it pulled for a tad after 6600.

No, Bone's car still has stock cam. He is one who also shifts @ 7800 and that is where he found he gets his best time at the track. 13.09@101 on 75 shot
I'd say shortly after rev limit.
