I pretty sure I heard somewhere on this board that with the stage 2 cams there should be at least 2 degres seperation at the cams or else there would be damage to the valves. Look into that. I might be mistaken, but I might be right.

yeah iam getting in tune soon just got to get my hondata, The car is running fine as a daily driver but performance wise it sucks right now, i can feel alot of fuel and air problems through the whole power badn esppecially when it hits vtech because the cams dont start to pull till like 6600 rpms and inbetween 56-6600 rpms the car is just dead its lacking fuell like crazy, The idle is fine ive had no problems with that at all, but from idle to 7800 i can feel the car is loosing alot of power.

its not that your not getting enough fuel, your getting to much fuel and try back'n off on the timing.. and belive me, you dont wanna mess with the cam gears at all, these cams are really big.. whatever you do to the intake u MUST do to the exhuast, like +2,+2.. anything more than that your valves will hit the pistons.. if your do +2-2 your valves will hit each other when vtec opens.. if you milled your head then thats a diffrent story.. but you really dont need to mess with the cam gears its not neccessary.. i had to learn that the hardway damn i miss my b16 ( i'm now with on ls/vtec with these cams and it runs great just that my piston rings didnt seal properly ( ****'n total seal sucks

is +2,+2 even going to give you power? what happened to your motor when you had +2,-2, the valves hit? i was told not to go more than +2,-2 either way.

i have skunk stage 2 cams just installed it does not bog out until vtec, just for a second the it takes off.(these cams need a lot of tuning) the only thing i have questions on is the idle. about every 40 seconds or so i get a little shake(only at idle) anyone else have this idle?

you cant even notice it unless your in the car sitting down. so i dont think a sound clip will do you no good, from my car anyway

The idle on these cams is somewhat lumpy but it can be remedied by increasing compression, raising the idle, changing overlap, and/or leaning your a/f mixture down low in the rpm range.

9.8:1 CR and stage 2 cams...
thats one of your problems

skunk stage 2:

SKUNK2 STAGE II SPECS:

INTAKE: DURATION @1mm 266º LIFT @ 0" lash: 0.485(12.3mm)
OPENING @1mm: 37º BTDC
CLOSING @1mm: 49º ABDC (this is what messes with stock CR)

EXHAUST: DURATION @1mm 262º LIFT @ 0" lash: 0.466(11.8mm)
OPENING @1mm: 61º BTDC
CLOSING @1mm: 21º ABDC

VAVLE SETTINGS
Lash the valves to stock settings on a cold motor
INTAKE: 0.007in.
EXHAUST: 0.008in.

the pri/sec lobes on the Sk2s2 are larger than stock... therefore you have less
dynamic compression due to the IVC spec, not to mention about 50deg of overlap.

CTR/ITR is this:

http://www.g-speed.com/pbh/b16a/

you can look at it for yourself. CTR/00-01 ITR have 28 degrees of overlap in VTEC. probably about 12 at idle. Si cams have about 17deg of overlap in VTEC and about 10 at idle at 0,0 cams. 0,0 cams skunk2 1s have about 35, and 2s have about 50!!! with about 25 at idle... thats pretty extreme. if you have full control of your timing curve via hondata... that is the only way the cams will make power on a stock motor. you will lose some midrange but get it back later. consider some CTR pistons and a mugen headgasket, ITR intake manifold and TB, full 2.5" exhaust, 310cc inhectors, 255lph fuel pump, cam gears with CONSERVATIVE TUNING, full ECU tuning $$$$ + tuning knowledge = MAX WHP from 1.6L

I had skunk 2 stage 2 on my gsr before and it idled fine. Before tuning, I would pull the motor to redline and noticed a significant bog around 5k rpm..then around 5500 rpm...I would get pinned to my seat.

After tuning...my power band was alot smoother and everything was gravy.
