ok, so I have a d16y8(98 sohc vtec) sitting in the shed. It was rebuilt 10k miles ago. So with my tax return I'm planning on starting the build up. I have a 91 crx si now, but I don't want to swap teh y8 into it because it's nice having a reliable car for once since my old ZC'd rex wasn't at all. So, I'm thinking of building the y8 up for ALL MOTOR and probably a lil bit of bottle then finding an ef shell to put it in. I'm just looking for build up ideas on the sohc vtec. oh and dont bother posting "get a real motor like a b16". Thanx in advance!

 

throw in some 88-89 integra pistons with the y8 head gasket and you are looking at about 11.6:1 compression.
Get your head worked valve,retainers,springs, p&p, cam maybe some oversized valves. You could also do a thin head gasket

 

Yeah, that sounds good! That's what I want to do when I rebuild the d16z6 that is currently in my crx. But I want around 12.1 compression, I need to learn more about this stuff. With my z6, a1 pistons, and a y8 head gasket that sounds about right, doesnt it?
