i bought a Lip and the fitment sucks *** its the EK mugen style lip made for an EG...well i pulled the end over the bumper and it cracked any ideas on what to do?

Do you have any pics of where it cracked? I know a lot of times you have to "massage" aftermarket kits/wings/lips to fit correctly. When I used to install them, I'd use a dremel to clean things up.

 

what is it made out of? sounds like fiberglass?

 

its made out of some black material not sure what
and where it cracked was if that helps at all...im pretty confused/pissed

Actually, that spot commonly cracks on aftermarket lips front and rear. If it's made out of rubbery/plastic type material, it's most likely polyurethane. If it feels like plastic, it's probably fiberglass. Fiberglass can be patched up and repaired fairly easy, there' are repair kits available everywhere, including Home Depot. If it's poly, you can try a plastic bumper repair kit available at Kragen, Autozone, etc. The problem is that the lip is too small to fit around the edge of the bumper, so the bumper needs to be trimmed a little, try a Dremel for that job.

that's way you sure make a bracket to support.suspense it instead of bolting it down with nuts and bolts.
when you lip scape the ground the metal bracket move instead of your lip taking the blow.
kinda hard to explain, not the wimpy braket come with the lip but custom made one.

If its urethane, shouldnt it not crack that easily? hmm...

My mugen style lip is black plastic i think. Fits pretty good tho.

 

mebbe its made out of some really thing abs plastic.

 

you probbly got it from Ebay (like me ) and it it too short to fit the bumper, and the sides stick out. fits like ****! i gues you gotta get the real one.

 

I also got my pile of **** from ebay, cracked just the same, just put it on there and screw it in, and hope that it gets ripped off.

I bought it from a local shop for 50$ and read the question again...its and "EK style mugen lip" not an EK mugen lip...its the one for EG's

 

We all have the same lip i guess, price is super...75-99 buck.
but quality isnt that good..fits okay tho'!

 

Don't all the sellers get their lips from the same manufacturer?

 

Of the knock offs that I've seen floating around, the part that bends around the bumper in front of the tire is the weakest point, it's usually very brittle, cause it's thin at that point. When people install them, they're pulling it outward to "wrap" around the bumper, and the stress cause cracks. I would just trim the stock bumper on that edge a little, to allow fitment, and then try to patch up the cracks before painting, or repainting.

 

im gonna do what u said trim the bumper down and JB weld or Fiberglass or bondo the crack back together

 

here is a pic of mine, look how the sides stick out. i need to get a real one instead of the shitty replicas that dont fit. I think it makes the car look much more meaner.

I really belive that you got the wrong lip. It looks like its for either a 96-98 or 99-00 civics. I've seen others where they fit fine.

 

it had a sticker on the inside that said for 92-95 3 dr. unless they put the wrong sticker on it, i dont know. i would like to get another one though, it looks nice but this time i will make sure it fits before i paint it , waste of paint.

 

solved my problem...i used a cheesegrater thingy and grined the **** out of the sides and it fits...now i need to Drill holes and its done...the lip is actually not that bad fit wise its jus short and u can Pull or force it at all...could u use a heat gun and move it around..if so that would be alot easier
