Im stumped - Mugen front lip
This is a rediculously retarded question, and I am embarassed to have to ask...but how the hell do you make this thing fit right?
Does anyone have close up pictures of the mugen front lip on a coupe/hatch?
When I tried my first install there were gaps between the bumper cover and lip in at least 3 places. Also the sides, where it wraps around into the wheelwells flare out a little instead of dropping straight down. Is that what they are supposed to do? It almost looks like the lip is fighting the curve of the bumper.
It was one of the cheepy ABS deals...so its no big deal if I cant use it because its crap...but is there a trick to it?

You prob. got the damn 96 and up lip. I did the same thing and traded with one of my buddies. If the lip is quite square you prob. don't have the right one. All the lips I have ever seen follow the contour of the bumper with no prob.

well you get what you pay for..that's fo sho...I had one of those cheap but durable knockoff moogen lip too....it was really smaller then my front bumper, so I forced it on....it fitted so tight that I didnt need any reinforcement beside the side mount screws.

Re: Im stumped - Mugen front lip (Tetsuwan Atomu)
its definitely a 5th gen lip...its just pretty tight. The gaps are right around where it curves to the sides of the car.
and you can see how the lip flares outward from being stretched...
is that the way its supposed to look. Should I use two side screws to get it to sit right on the side or what?
Im buying a type R lip in the hopes that the install will be less of a PITA...but I kind of like the more agressive mugen lip.
How far up on the sides of the lip should I mount. the way I had it only about 1 inch of the lip overlapped the bumper at the wheelwells...should I have more overlap?

I hear that...but I dont wanna buy anything CF until I get better springs/struts on the car.
The last owner did drop springs on stock struts so the suspension has more travel then im accustomed to...it scrapes alot on dippy pavement.
I guess cheap will work for now. Ill try to re-install it tommorrow.

Re: Im stumped - Mugen front lip (Mildly Interesting)
I guess this is as close as it gets.
I like it
Not perfect, but I can afford to waste it if I manage to scrape it too much.

the plastic mugen lip i had on my eg and kinda did the same thing...a few small gaps and aimed up a lil bit...i hit a cat on the way to work about 2:45am this morning and shattered half of it..so its time for a new one anyways
my friend has a 99' with a plastic lip and it fits perfect, cant fit a piece of paper between the lip and bumpercover...and he got his lip the same place i did...go figure :/

Re: Im stumped - Mugen front lip (igo4bmx)
the el fake-o fits like poop on the eg, i have one. however they seem to fit well on the newer civics. why? you ask
they are the same damn lip, only the one they sell for the eg doesnt have all the plastic trimed off.
and they arent that durable... hitting a cone at 45 sideways will crack it.
try it at your next auto-x, you'll see what i mean

Re: Im stumped - Mugen front lip (mycvc8u2)
I guess the only good solution is goiwith a higher quality lip then.
this one will suffice until paint...then I guess ill try a jdmshit CF piece.
