It can if you wire a lead from your +12VDC (amp power wire) to the remote input. But this wouldn't give you a way to turn off the amp and hence drain your battery.

The new JL Audio amps for one work with no remote wire. Somehow it senses the signal from the headunit.

My deck doesn't have remote wire. Should I get a newer deck and which type should I get around 200-250? Thanks

I'm not sure why all amps don't do this, it is not difficult to do.

I used a toggle switch in one of my installs to turn on the bass amp.

Much simplier way guys... if you do not have a remote wire from your head unit, tie into the Accessory wire, it is only powered when the key is in the Acc or On position... hence saving you from draining your battery, having to buy a new head unit, having to buy a new amp, or having to install a toggle switch.. I have done this with factory head units for people quite often.. Very simple to do...

Sure, connect it to accessory power. The only drawback is the amp will always come on with the key, not a big deal with newer amps. I used a toggle for my bass amp because if I didn't have the engine running it'd drain the battery in a hurry. It gave me the option of having the bass off.

If your radio has a power antenna wire , you can use that as well.

Well the vast majority of anyone who has subs/amps, almost always has the radio on anytime the car is on.. so it works out
