ive got some sony brand headunit hooked up to a jensen amp and an x-plod subwoofer i got for christmas... and it seems that my remote turn on is not functioning. do i have any other options besides buying a new headunit, or am i basically stuck? if so, what can i get that's half way decent for 200$ or less

you can tap the remote wire from the amp to the accesory wire of the car. it will be on even though you don't have the receiver on. If you're worried about the amp being on when you don't want it to be on, you can wire a switch to the amp.

So, what your telling me is that all i really need to do is go buy a toggle switch for the dash area for the Remote wire.. and stick it onto an accessory wire? which accessory wire do i use? are there just blanks that run there for such reasons.. or would i have to tap off of say, a glove box lamp? (hah.. open glove box.. amp turn's on...) ??

I would use the power for the head(not memory). I have done this before. The switch is not worth the time. How often do you have your accesories on and don't want to hear the stereo?

Do you have a multimeter? Check the remote turn on lead coming from the vehicle first to establish that it is in fact the lead and not the radio that is problematic.
