about a week ago my reverse stopped working out of the blue... i tried everything to get it in and it just wouldnt go... it wouldnt even grind or anything, I figured my syncro died out on me but then today just for fun i tried it again and it went in and grinded alittle, so then i revved it up and sure enough and went into reverse.. anyone have similar problems with their H22A tranny?

 

I know of several H22 owners who have had that happen. Be very careful going into fifth and reverse or you will lose reverse for good.

 

I havent had reverse for about 5 months...hahahha

I had this exact thing happen to me. I lost reverse for good. All it took for me was one hard grind shifting into third. I guess i missed third and was between third and fifth somehow. As soons as I parked the car and tried to go into reverse, it was locked out. Fifth also grinded very badly after that. I ended up having to get a new tranny(there were other problems with it ). When i took my tranny to have it looked at, the guy told me that there is a pin holding in the shift fork for reverse, and that it had popped out. This is why I lost reverse. I believe it is fixable, and you just need the tranny to be opened up have the pin popped back in. Sometimes the shift fork for 5th and reverse gets bent though, and I'm not sure if that can be easily fixed then.

I was told this is a very common problem with h series trannys. Gotta be careful shifting. I'm always paranoid now about mishifting and grinding gears.

 

most hondas have a problem with reverse after a while just got to work it in after a while.

 

I had the same prob .... took it to Honda dealership since it was under warranty though.... now is working good.... but the problems is common try not to grind in third or fifth
