in my d16a6, car cranks and starts for about a second, then shuts off...just washed the engine bay, and it was working fine for about a day, then the problem started. check fuel pressure, good, check distributor and wires, good, check igniter and coil, good.

what could it be?

 

Sometimes when you get water in your distributor cap, it can cause rough idles and sometimes stop the engine from running. Open up the cap and check for moisture, dry it off if there is some. Then give it a try.

This happened a lot when my friend would pressure wash his prelude.

 

I'll second that, very common problem. If that's not it you can also try pulling the plug wire and see if water went down the spark plug tube, sometimes causes problems if the car has old(er) plug wires..

 

alright, well took off the cap, rotor, and wires. doesnt seem to have any moisture there.

any other ideas? why would the car run for a second, then cut off...?????????
