Default 215-40-17 owners, chime in

Id like some feedback on your personal experiences with 215-40-17 setup. I am going to run SSR competition 17x7.5 w/ the JDM front end () soon. My camber is set at -1.5 all the way around. Ill be literally lowered 2.6" at 4 corners.

My main question is if any of you guys rub your fenders at full lock?

you will have rubbing, full fender lock. i did. even on 17x7 wheels.

asides this,

you will slow down the car, alot. i could care less if you had 8 lb 17" wheels on the car. it still would be slower/sluggish .

tires own you!

Well, obviously Im not concerned about losing power. If I was concerned, I wouldnt of got the 17" SSR to begin with. Besides, I have different gearing and I want to offset the gearing with a taller wheel.

lol

fine.

why even post this question if youre so negative.

if you want people to tell you it will work, go hire a few yes men.

i'm telling you with a 17x7 wheel +43 offset and 215/40/17, you'll have full rub at lock and a slow down in acceleration and braking.

with a 17x7.5 wheel with the same offset you will need spacers to prevent rubbing even not during full lock.

my car came with 17s... so i don't know what it would be like running anything smaller. i've got a baer brake kit, so i don't even know if i can fit a 16. if it turns out it can, when it comes time to get new tires i'm all about the rota slipstreams.

You will rub, I had to raise my car back to a two finger gap so that I do not rub on large bumps, I do not rub at full lock though. I am running 17x7.5 Rota Subzeros with +45 offset. I bought 3 mm spacers, but I did not like how it looked.

I am changing to 16x7 SSR competitions, anthracite with a polished lip owns me

i am running 17x7.5 with the exact same tire configuration you are asking about - 215/40/17. i am lowered about 1.5 inches all around, but i could be wrong - i am on coilovers so its hard to say. its definitely not slammed.. and i have no rubbing whatsoever. people told me to use a bat and roll my rear fenders, but i dont see the tire being able to hit it at all. its been a week and i have had no troubles, no rubbing, no problems turning whatsoever.

17's fill the wheel well very nicely and the most important thing is - the car feels very planted and steady on 17x7.5 (i was driving on stock wheels and suspension prior to putting all of this on...)

I'm not sure what my rim width is, but I know I have 205/40/17 Kuhmos and I am lowered quite a bit (maybe 3" or so):

....................Never had ANY rubbing issues (and, yes, I have a camber correction kit and I am aligned to factory spec.)

I ran these wheels for a day with Spoon Springs on stock shocks and encountered no rubbing at all, I beleive the tires were 215/40 17 Yoko's on 17X7.5 Momo Ultralight rims....I dunno the offset.....Fuminsho care to chime in?

Whatever they are, they are 4-lug. I'm curious about what's up with that...

C5's are overated IMO as well as 5-lug. (no need to flame here, just MY opinion). I have an LS/VTEC putting down well more than a C5 w/ I/H/E and have no problems. Also, my car stops just fine.....why add the extra unsprung weight of larger calipers/rotors? No hard feelings here. I bought it the way it looks and it's clean, drives like a dream and screams like hell. What more could a guy ask for!
