Opinions on adjustable timing gear brands?
Searched but didn't find anything.
Anyone have brand preferences on adjustable timing belt pulleys? This is on a SOHC D16A6. I've never actually used one. Sold the unused race engine that had an AEM pulley on it. Know Unorthodox makes them too. Years ago heard complaints about Skunk2s for not having clear increments but that may have neen changed. Need to order one pretty soon. Input is appreciated.

i've got a skunk 2. don't have any trouble reading the increments. i'll see if i can get a pic tomorrow. i had a hayame adj gear and the skunk 2 is prob about half as light as the hayame.
I use a Fidanza gear but found the locking nuts to be pretty stupid as when you loosen them they end up spining off the bolt...falling off...once into my timingbelt cover
If they had allen key bolts then I would say they are good...pretty light and clearly marked and cheap too.
IMO The best I've seen so far is the skunk2...very light with allen key bolts
I'm going to replace my fidanza with the skunk pretty soon.

I bought a AEM Tru-Time Cam Gear last year. The previous owner of this mystery engine said he was running 12 advance and the engine had a cam in it(he took the cam gear off when i bought the engine). After a trip to the dyno i found that +2 advance worked best(must be a pretty mild cam..ggrrrrr).......money well wasted right?
But anyway, the cam gear worked great, easy to use and read. However make sure you have a inch/lbs torque wrench as the gear required torque to 15ft/lbs.

i'm running AEM tru-times on my ZC, and i havent had any problems with them. only reason that i can think of that would make them slip would be not torquing the bolts down correctly.
I did notice that the Unorthodox race gear had 5 locking bolts and the street one I got has 4. The AEM Tru-time gear that went with the engine has 3. The more bolts the more weight but also the more locking power (if all were tightened equally).

I used a AEM on my DOHC ZC and never had a problem the bolts "lock" in place so unless you don't tighten them properly I don't see how they would slip. But its nice to have more bolts for piece of mind.
It would be nice if someone had a chart comparing cam gears(weights/# of bolts etc)
