ATTN: Zeal B2 Owners. How low can you go?
I'm getting an alignment tomorrow, so I thought that I would mess around with my height settings a little. Up until now I have been running pretty low (check out the link in my sig for pics), too low infact.
In order to get the ride height that I dessired, I had to move the perches down so that the spring had about 1-2 inches of space between the top of the spring and the bottom of the top perch. So the spring was not really seated, it was just laying in there loose. I know I was prematurely wearing my shocks and sacrificing travel, but it just looked too damn good.
I began to worry about how bad this may be on the coilovers and decided that I wanted to move them back up to their "recomended" height that they came with. By sending an email to EndlessUSA I discovered the following:
I assumed that this would also apply if the coilovers were installed, but the car was jacked up (Am I wrong?). So I proceeded to follow their recomendations and I moved the perches up and hand tightened them and locked them in place.
PRO: After taking a spin around the block with my new and proper seating of the springs, I discovered that the ride was much less bouncy and generally more comfortable.
CON: My car is now a 4x4 with Stock, or maybe a fraction higher, ride height.
The Questions:
-Does anyone else with B2s follow the factory recomendations? If so, how the hell are you supposed to lower them past stock height while still retaining the purpose of the coilover?
-What height do you guys run with?
Thanks for any help!

>1) When I installed the coilover, I was unaware that they came pre set at
>the recommended height for my car. I adjusted them to where I thought it
>looked good with aspirations to have it corner-weighted in the near future.
>Is there any way to determine the "recommended" height now? Can I measure

>height?
*The recommended height is mainly for the Function Series that include a
lower adjustable bracket. The lower adjustable bracket is set at the
recommended height. Since the B2 does not include a lower adjustable
bracket, the only recommendations we have are the spring seat and seat lock.
ZEAL recommends this:
When the system is out of the vehicle, loosen the lower spring seat and
spring seat lock so that there is spring play. Then, tighten the spring
seat and seat lock until you cannot hand tighten it anymore. This is
considered the "zero" point. From this point, with the hook wrench, ZEAL
recommends no more than 2 full turns to tighten the spring preload. So,
anywhere from the "zero" point to 2 full turns is the recommendation.

EDIT- nm, my advice does not apply. i was unaware that the B2's heights is not independently adjustable from the preload of the spring.
trade your b2's in for some b6's and you won't have this problem.
