Anyone think THIS might be my problem??? *pics*
Saturday my car went from absolutely normal to suddenly feeling like there was no clutch there at all. I think this might be why.
Has anyone seen a clutch fail like this before? It seems unusual... the car is turbo'd but has never been to a track, never even stoplight drag races. If I get in the power it's when I'm already rolling and I rarely see a launch hard enough to spin the wheels. I looked at the input shaft on the tranny and it LOOKS ok but I need to give it a closer look before I put this stuff back together.
Damm man i have never i mean naver seen that, what brand is that. Let me know so I tell every one not to get it. Take it to where you got it mabey they will give your your money back.
If it was the correct clutch for your tranny....I would recommend taking the clutch back to wherever you purchased it to see if they can warantee it...that is definitely a non-standard clutch ailment.

I'm thinking there's no way in hell this should have happened, but the clutch is the unsprung street (full-face) disc from Clutchnet. I know plenty of people on here use Clutchnet, so I doubt this is a normal problem for them.
The engine is a straight B20 turbo at like 8 psi, stock internals so it couldn't have been throwing down more than 240ish at the wheels in my honest opinion. It pulled plenty strong to embarrass some "better" cars on the street but no way it was putting down enough power to strip those splines. I'm thinking the unsprung disk may have exaggerated any vibration problems, but after having 2 clutches fail from springs popping out I wasn't going to try that again.
I'll call clutchnet about it, see what they say. I doubt anything will come of it, but it's worth seeing what they think.

That's pretty crazy... I've never seen that happen to a disk before... Looks like it's time to drop $1300 on a dual disk Tilton... We use them on all of our high boost turbo street motors... On my friend's old GSR turbo EK it was holding back 506whp on 22lbs...
Does your flywheel have a pilot bearing in it?

Oh and I think the Tilton is probably a little bit of overkill for my lowly car. Especially since the turbo will be coming off in the next week.
you must have installed incorrectly
what year is the tranny hydro or cable you seem to have the wrong clutch disk for your app. This can happen if you have a hydro disk on a cable tranny the splines are differnt and dont fit exact they are kinda loose and have some play. You need to check the input shaft as well as that may be damaged which will be a matter of pulling the trans apart. hope this helps.
Yeah, Ive done taht to a few discs.
1. clutchnet unsprung full face
2. act unsprung 4 puck
3. stock disc
clutchnet was supposed to replace my disc, but i never followed up on it and forgot about it.

Seriously I have no problem admitting a mistake on installation, but how would incorrect installation possibly lead to stripping the splines? The clutch was even installed with the motor out of the car, so it was really easy and I'm positive it was aligned correctly...

I was only joking.. referencing that exedy controversy with cocksimport
I was, however, thinking of picking up one of the Exedy kits from coximport since they're cheap as hell and my car is being returned to stock. Are they that bad?
i don't have an exedy, im running an act xtss on my prelude. apparently the exedy clutches require constant adjustments.
I can get you guys the Exedy 08-800B clutch kit for $249 shipped! PM me or email me at sales@247performance.com
I don't think the disc is right for your tranny. .02
