Mystery sensors on B16
I'm having a hard time figuring out a couple of sensors on a B16A head.
Check out
.
What is the sensor with the beige connector (not the VTEC Pressure or the VTEC Solenoid)? It has two pins and NOT the one the dude is pointing to.
And what is the single pin connector that is about 2 inches to the left of if it you were looking at the side of the head from the passenger side of the car. There is a single pin sensor there.
I think one of them is the Water Temp sensor, but I'm not sure which one it is, and I can't figure out what the other one would be then. I think the single pin sensor is the Water Temp, but haven't found anything conclusive in the Helms.

coolant temp sensor=the 2 wire plug thats in the picture
and coolant temp sending unit=1 wire
and coolant temp sending unit=1 wire
Basically, the single wire sensor goes to the dash display,
and the two wire sensor goes to the ECU.

Yup Yup, the ECT is the two pin sensor used by the ECU to determine engine temperature, the singal pin is as everyone has said the ECTG which displays coolant temp on the cluster... Latez
No wonder I couldn't figure it out.
Okay that makes sense to me now, shouldn't be a big deal to wire that up that way.
But riddle me this:
What is the sensor that is built into the thermostat then (on the B18B1 block, its a sensor that is in the actual block on the B16A1 block)? Are there multiple ECT sensors? Do I need to do anything with the one that is built into the thermostat?
I've been going through wiring purgatory lately... not a whole lot of fun, but I definately have vastly simplified the wire harnesses.

The two wire sensor in the t-stat houshing is the coolant temp sensor for the ECU. what harnes are you using?
"vastly simplified the wire harnesses."
what do you mean? you left out lot of sensors? why? or do you mean you understand it more now?

actually.. the sensor on the thermostat housing is the cooling fan switch.. its the same as the sensor/switch on the back of the 1st gen b16 and b18 blocks.

The stuff I removed from the harnesses are
1) Turn signal indicators (front and rear, plus side markers)
2) Rear window defroster
3) Sunroof controls
4) Dome lights
5) Speakers
6) Heater controls, heater electronics (this makes up the majority of the car-side wiring harness)
7) Dash/gauges
8) Horn wires
9) Elmintated turn signal relays
10) Replaced stock fuse panel with custom one
11) Replaced stock ignition switches with custom ones
I also took the headlights and am in the process of making those isolated so that we can install the headlight wiring harnesses only when we have the headlights installed (which will probably be never).
I'd say that there is less than half of the stock car side harness left. I also replaced the shitty electrical tape / wrap stuff with more modular spiral wrap for most stuff. Makes it easier to fix stuff.
However, I do kinda regret tackling it all at once... I wish we had of gotten the B16A running in the car, installed the Hondata, Switched the LS-VTEC, then eliminate all the wiring stuff. Doing it all at once was/is rather difficult, and I'm not itimidated by anything. Hopefully will finally get the car running this weekend.

The ECT on the head is for ECU reference... the one on the thermostat housing or on the back of nonOBD blocks is the ECTSW which is the radiator fan switch just as B20Monster said... Peace
Now that I know that is the ECT SW, should be easy to wire up the fan, although was thinking of just doing a manual switch.
