Default Rear Diffuser

What is a rear diffuser? I saw a car that had an str rear diffuser on it and I was wondering what it does?

The rear bumper on many vehicles can essentially act as a parachute given the car is traveling at a high enough rate of speed. The purpose of the diffuser is simple to let the air pass through limiting such an effect.

the str one is just a plate that goes over a cutout in the rear bumper to let air out so it doesn't act like a parachute

a real diffuser is designed to use the air flow coming from under the car to create downforce on the rear end.

str diffuser is silly and pointless. just cut the holes in your bumper yourself...save money and weight at the same time.
