I would say that its a pritty good price and just go with it, the only thing you might wanna find out is how he will be doing your pistons and rods??
Is he just gona slap them inthere or will get the cylinerwalls honed out for you??
But other than that for the amount of work he is doing its a pritty good price...

what if he just slaps them in therE??? he said he was gonna take out my itr jdm pistons right now, measure them, and he told me to get the exact same size so itll fit perfectly.

are there any downsides to doing this?

i think thats a damn good price! i would go with it! break it down like this tho: 1550$ = roughly 25 labor hours. i dont think there is 25 hours of work there for a skilled mechanic but the work you are having done iv VERY labor intinsive. like i said for that amount of work and that price, i would go with it!

I would say that is a lil pricey, but thats just me, and I'm not sure what the going rate is on that type of labor.

Well I personally would stay away from just slapping some pistons in because if he even does install them correctly into the block the rings might not seat right and than your gona have to take everything back apart and have the block honed..

Sounds like a good price to me. I have worked on my car, my sister's car and my mother's car before so I know what a pain in the *** it can be.

I charge $500 to install turbokits, and that usually includes installing any guages, controllers you provide with the kit.

$250 to install a clutch, however the motor would stay in car!
Since your getting rods and pistons, I assume this is going to be machine honed, and getting all new bearings in the process. We charge $500 for a full motor rebuild! Since the motor will be out and apart, you can scratch the $250 for the clutch.

So all in all, we would do all that work for $1000 flat!

Oh and the technician is ASE Certified, Porsche Certified, UTI Grad, Honda Guru!

Good luck!
