Default What engine is a drop-in replacement of stock 91 CRX Si?

After a good 274k miles, my engine gave up on me. What engine is a good drop-in replacement of the stock engine? I don't want to go B16A or anything, no money.

Thanks,

dont' be a dick dude, that's obvious. You could get a ZC, or you could get a d16z6/y8 and then wire up vtec with a rpm switch.

a ZC
any engine of the 92-00 civic line up...except the 99-00 Si's
basically what u wanna swap will be a SOHC VTEC D16Z6/Y8 or a ZC.....

could drop a d15b7,sohc zc,dohc zc,d16z,d16y8..any 88-02 d series will most likely drop in..id do a performance rebuild on the d16a6.. a dohc zc ofers most hp stock over the rest...but lack or parts kills it for me

now for my 2 cents. if your not looking to do any mods to it then look for a $100 stocker and save up for a nice b series, but if your looking to spend inbetween $500-$1000 then buy a z6

How was I being a dick??!! He asked for something that was cheap and easy and bolted right in what else describes that? You talk about the Y8 or Z6 mini-me your looking at more money and it doesnt just bolt right in you have to do wiring to get the vtec to work. So the best answer for his question (cheap, easy, bolts right in) Would either be the stock Si motor or the ZC motor which are both cheap and easy very minor wiring for the ZC compared to a mini-me swap. But still the cheapest and easiest motor would be the stock Si motor.

If your cash is limited then rebuild your old motor if you can. Swapping in a newer motor is gonna co$t.

Rebuilding an old stock motor costs more than swapping in the same block that's used.

And the reliability is going to be better? I don't think so.

Where does he say that he doesnt want the same motor??!! In fact he even says he doesnt want a B16 or anything. So it would seem like he doesnt want to swap in some other motor. As for the error of my ways??!! Uh my answer was a perfectly good one. In fact if you look most peoples answers were around the stock motor either getting another one or rebuilding the original one.

The exact replacement you can get with good mileage and smoggable would be the SOHC ZC. it the exact same engine, only from japan with a little higher compression. but if you use your USDM manifolds it will pass smog
