Can anyone tell me the difference between the CX and DX model 96-00 hatchbacks?? Tryin' to get some soon, and tryin' to figure out the main diffs. Please help me out.

 

umm i know the cx is the lightest and it doesn't have powersteering sorry i couldn't help you more but i think there is a good article on it at http://www.hondaswap.com or http://www.civichatch.com

 

I think the only things different I can rember are power steering, color. the DX was allowed in all colors and the the CX did not come in black, the plastic wheel covers came stock with the DX. thats about all i can rember.

CX has vinyl interior...DX has cloth seats
DX has a stronger engine

 

CX = no rear windshield wiper, no magazine pocket for the passenger seat, no color black. Both have the same sohc 106hp 103tq.

 

So....
-No power steer in CX
-No "black" color in CX
-Different interior in the two models
-Same engine in both cars?

Alright... I think I am going to try and get a DX then... Sound Good??

 

oh and i believe the DXs rear tail is longer and painted unlike the short black of the CXs.

1992 Honda Civic Hatchback Specifications
CX hatchback: 2094lbs.
VX hatchback: 2094lbs.
DX hatchback: 2178lbs.
Si hatchback: 2326lbs

Key Differences:

*The CX and VX have a 10-gallon tank, while the DX and Si have the 11.9-gallon tank.

*Si and DX have a Rear wiper/washer

*Si and Dx have more tar for increased quietness in cabin.


*Si and Dx have side moldings and rear cargo cover standard.



*Si came with power mirrors, power sun roof.



*Si came with rear disc brakes, while DX, VX, CX came with rear drums.



*Si came with front, rear sway bars standard.



Conclusion:

Keep in mind these cars were weighed in stock trim. This means no air conditioning or radio because it was not a standard option in any vehicle. The VX and Si were the only hatchbacks to come with 2 mirrors and a tachometer as standard equipment. For wheels, the VX came with 9lb thirteen-inch alloy wheels while the CX and DX had thirteen inch steel wheels. The Si had the heaviest wheels coming with fourteen inch steel wheels with hubcaps.

Did any of you read 96-00?

Same engine, mostly same everything. There was a huge difference in 5th gen hatchbacks, but there's a lot less in 6th gen.

 

Here are some more differences between the 96-98 and the 99-00. The fronts are different. The hatches are different. The rear tail lights are different. 96-98 did not have a fuel tank pressure sensor, the 99-00 do. You could only get green in 96.

 

Actually only the 1992 Cx had the vinyl interior...

No it only had a front swaybar.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I've seen a few one-mirrored Vx hatches and I'm very observant - care to verify that statement through a Honda source perhaps?

 

There's a one mirrored vx in town. Does that count?

 

My 92 vx had one mirror, my 94 had two.
