skunk stage 2 cams noisy?????? help!!!!!!
i just installed skunk stage 2 cams and now my b18 sounds like a cummings diesel? i adjusted valves to the specs requested by skunk 2 (7 intake, 8 exh)
i have had the valvetrain (skunk 2) for about 3000 miles with ctr cams and it sounded normal. haven't drove it yet, just let it run for about 30 minutes. is this normal for these cams to be that loud? need help.

still need help. rechecked the valves and i drove it and it pulls hard but still noisy. are they just noisy? everything looks ok as far as the valvetrain.
the idle is perfect. when i rechecked the valve adjustment the intakes seem to have already loosened up. when i drove it i only took it up to around 6500rpm once. it does sound like they are out of adj. after about 4500rpms it sounds like there is a marble in the valve cover. but do these cams have to be on exact point with the adj. should i go a little tighter???????

they were perfect this morning. could the cams make them go bad right away? i realy dont think that is possible.
my friend has told me his motor made a bunch of noise after he put the same exact cams in his h22 too. he had my friend to a valve adjustment as well, and it still made the noise.
i did retension my timing belt twice. but why would this make a difference?
re-tension your timing belt.....

are you sure you are using the correct valve adjustment method and specs?
seems like you might be doing one thing wrong, possibly if you misunderstoodd the instructions... and you are still doing that one thing wrong....?

ot: did your skunk2 stage2 cams come stamped with the letter "M" on both cams and a "2" on the intake cam?
if so, i have the same cams and have heard any noise in my engine. it idles just a little louder than stock and i'm on a stock modified valvetrain and an old timing belt. i've also made about 15 passes down the 1/8th track, shifting at 8000.
you might want to check your valvetrain for any worn parts and if they are properly positioned.

if you read the post, it was fine before i put the cams in, and all the rocker arm pads look good. i did not check the markings. what engine do you have? r or gsr?

My bro did his valve adjustment with .06 and .07 gauges instead of .006 and .007 gauges, and it did sound like a diesel, i knew almost right away what happened and i laughed my *** off. You used the right gauges right???
problem solved. i had to adjust the valve about six times. all the exhust valve were at .011 after about the fourth time. finally got it. purrs like a kitten, pull like a bat out of hell! going to dyno next week for tuning.
