Default d15b v.s. b16a???

My homie has a 88 std with a jdm d15b w/i/h/e and he has the chance
to get a fully built b16 w/ trans and ecu for $500....but he would rather
keep the d15b in the hatch instead of doing the swap... he could sell
the b16 but why???

What are the advantages and disadvantges to doing this.
someone out there let me know the "logic" behind this?

Sorry left out something...the guy he can get the b16 from works at KG
enginering here in so. cali and that is da truth.

i doubt he's getting a 'fully built' b16 engine. For that price you can usually get a longblock and maybe an ecu and hes getting a 'built' longblock and ecu??? Something sounds fishy! but if its from a friend or something, and thats why hes getting the deal i would put it in, but thats just me! you could always buy it and sell the parts as long as they are in good condition and then sell the bare head and block for around 250 after all the parts are gone!!! But then again, it does sound mighty fishy!!!

the above was me, sorry i was accidentaly on my brothers sn. I just thought about it but he could also swap over his intake and exhaust, but he would have to sell his header. he could sell his header to get some money for mounts.

It's not a hot motor. Just a really long time friend. I'm the friend he's talking about by the way. It's not going to be built when I get it but all the work will be done for free. I just pay for parts. So in actuallity it's not going to be $500. I would rather do the work on my d15 and keep it sleeper.

It's going to be worth the time and money to see the boys faces at the track when they see they got spanked by a 1.5 SOHC!!

And It's about time you finally registered on H-T Fool!!!

my friend just got rid of his jdm d15 for a b16a swap, the b16 is just all around better IMO, but to each his own

That's what it''s all about. I was almost jumped on the b16 bandwagon but I figured it would be more fun and more of a challenge to see what I can squeeze out of the D. Ha Ha Ha "Squeeze out of the D" Sounds a little dirty huh? AhthankYou

if he is able to get a full b16 swap in good working order for $500, do it!
he could turn around and sell it for double that and it would still be a great deal to the person he is selling it to.
