Which is better turbo engine? b18b or b16a?
b16a will last longer, technically speaking. it depends on what your desires are when you say which is better. personally i like a b16a with turbo because it screams up top with 2 wonderful powers....turbo and vtec. b18a has nice torque down low which helps reduce turbo lag and the turbo gives it a punch up top that a non vtec usually doesn't have. but a b18a/b isn't a high revving engine to start with, so if you like to rev it up high go b16a. if you want a car that is great on the streets and don't rev it up high all the time go b18a/b.
nonononononono!!!. get the B18b if youre definately going turbo. they come with stronger rods than the B18c and B16a, as well as lower compression which as everyone should know, allows you to run more boost. please, i beg you, if youre going to turbo a "B" motor, get the B18b LS. my friend has an Si which comes with the B16a, first thing he has to do is lower the compression to allow for more boost. and if you wanna rev higher, beef up your valve train i.e. titanium valves, springs, and retainers. then get a good set of cams to increase flow. trust me. im sure more will back be that the B18b LS is the better of the 2 to turbo.
and i forgot, if you want the B16a or B18c tranny gear ratio, the trannies bolt right up the the B18b. also, i dont know if its possible, but perhaps a B18b LS head on a CRV B20b block would be very good for boosting. same thing goes for the CRV B20b block, the GS R or Si trannies bolt up. good luck!!!!
