Default Update on Project 400HP ZC...56K nightmare...

Well right now, the CRX is far from 400HP...

I am almost done converting my stock ZC setup back to N/A. I just have to
finish up the downpipe, and load my N/A ZC tune up.

Here's some pics...

Apexi filter with custom 3" inlet flange

CSF radiator. Thicker core then stock dualcore delsol... . Permacool fan
rated at 1650cfm. Angled to fit.

Nice picture of the rad, and JimFab crossmember. Notice how much room
there now is for the T3/T4 setup...

Pic of JimFab link...

I will be taking the car to pass emissions in about 2 weeks. I will then
start collecting parts for my tranny rebuild...

ZC tranny.
- New bearings. Cryo treated.
- Any worn parts replaced.
- Quaife LSD (I finally made up my mind).
- Stock SI axles. (for now)

Then it's the suspension:

- 89 Accord front shocks. Tokico Blues.
- CRX AGX adjustable rears shocks.
- Skunk2 coilovers.
- Sus tech sway bars.

That should cover the next few months...

I will give an update on the progress at that time.

Enjoy and thanks!
Bryson

looks nice..why the accord shocks?

litle ghetto still in you, or do you have a reason?

oh and do you have any info, on the radiator...I know its dual core and that aspect will keep the temps down..but its also half as wide... which is a factor in the opposite direction..

No. NO ghetto.

The accord shocks are 1" shorter STOCK then the CRX struts. Just a cheep little way to get a little more travel...Keep off those damn bump stops..

The radiator will cool fine. Better then the stock delsol...

The T-25 setup I was running needed a rebuild. I was not going to pass emissions with it burning all the oil leaking from the turbine housing...

I do not have the 10,000 dollars right off hand to finish my 400HP setup, so I just converted to N/A in the mean time.

Well I'm sure it's "possible" but The costs of doing so really arn't worth it.

I purchased the radiator at:

Hahahahah.... True.

But all in all, the number of people who have 400-500-600+hp B series is getting to the point where it's not very interesting for me to try and build one.

I know that with the amount of money and work I've put into this setup, I could have a 500+hp B16...

Theres just something appealing to me about building up one of these small "weak" motors(in honda terms), which you don't see everyday making large amounts of power.

I don't regret anything.

very good point,
i also have the zc in my car and i was going for the zc turbo build up too. Granted you can build a b16 for cheaper, they are just too common now. Heck, thats the reason i bought a honda in the first place. The has to be a line to draw and for me i think it is the zc. You say " you could build a stronger b16 for that price" and that is possible, but where does it end. I could also build a faster eclipse than the b16 for the same money, and i could build a faster mustang for even cheaper. it all comes down to the fact that i would like something a little more RARE, and thats about the bottom line. Sorry to say it, but dollar for dollar, if you want the fastest car, then you should buy a fucken shitty foxbody mustang and work on that piece of crap. They can be picked up for cheap and motors are readily available. I think i am going to stick with the zc because everyone and their mom doesnt have it. my roommate always says, " sell that crappy crx and get an eclipse gsx" granted it would be faster, but then i would be just another common car. not what i want. Bryson, keep up the good work. In my eyes a 400hp zc is worth more than a 500hp b16 This is just my 2 cents.

Great point...

Doing something that us uncommon nowadays is getting tougher. D-series build ups are getting up there and thats why I'm sticking with my Z6.

Looking good Bryson. I am also in to it up to my neck with my built ZC. But after all this work the one thing that always haunts me is "rod to stroke ratio" With all that HP I can only see a rod going through the block or my cylinder walls starting to look oval! 1.5:1 on D series VS 1.74:1 B16. Oh well...too late now for both of us!

Hahahah...

That is the limiting factor of the D series unfortunetly (well besides the small bore... ). I beleive that as long as the motor is not reved to the moon, the motor will be just fine at that very high level of power. I am going to keep my stock rev limit of 7500, and just let the boost do the work...

One benefit of the low R/S ratio is TORQUE!!! At 400HP, The Torque output will be around 300-350ft/lb's!

Let's see a B16 do that!
