Default questions for the d series gurus...

A y8 head on a d16a6 block with a y8 IM....is the compression too high for an 8 psi t25 custum setup

will a 95 d15 head work on my d16a6?
just the head
will i lose hp?
can i still use my d16a6 timing belt...

head will raise the compression, but a d15 gasket will bring it back down a little. i'd say it could be safe for 6-8psi. and no you can't use the d16a timing belt.

What D15 head are we talking here? the b2/b7/a6 as far as I know are all the same castings. So you would have no change.. The only difference is the cams.

The B6 and B8's are all 8valve and ****.. dont even **** with that.

Mini-me Turbo... ahem.. Since I have done 2 of them, I will tell you this, they can be a bit tough to control, especially since you need to take alot of timing away, almost more than 1.0 degree per psi, (on the top end) and about .5ish on the bottom end, this is where a standalone system comes in, or the use of Zdyne Gold SECU. You probably could get away with a afc hack (using 450's) and a MSD BTM, but the boost is going to have to be reasonable. (5-8psi) The high compression of the mini-me makes it very easy to detonate.

But they do run out pretty strong.

Most likely, yes. The A6/Y8 combo will yeild a CR of about 11:1. That is very high. I'm sure with some amazing fuel management you might be able to run with that setup, but I wouldn't want to deal with it.

Like the answers given above, YES, the '95 D15B7 head will work on your A6. The compression ratio MIGHT change a little bit, but nothing noticeable. I know that all 88-91 (excluding the HF) have the same head castings (as mentioned above), but the OBD-1 heads might be slightly different. I wouldn't be surprised if they redesigned the combustion chamber a little bit to improve economy.

Either way, use the timing belt according to the head. (ie, B7 head, B7 timing belt, Z6 head, Z6 timing belt) I wouldn't be surprized if the A6 T-belt fit the B7 head though.

You can use any D-series headgasket for that set up. I would recommend the Z6 or Y8 heagasket, they are very strong and increase your compression ratio.

change out your seals for new ones. It's not hard to do.

in the car its kinda a pain.. you will need to fill the cylinder full of air. and remove the valve springs. Pull the oil seals off (normally plyers work) and install the new seals, I use deep chromie sockets to tap them in (with a small amount of greese) Then you will need a valve spring compressor to reinstall the valve spring. and thats it.. walah.
