Gas Milage
Just an observation that I found eye-opening
My 93 CX hybrid has a 10 gallon tank and at VIR last sunday I ran completely out of gas buy the end of the third track session. (note to self. Check the damm gas guage periodically BEFORE you get fuel starvation in the uphill esses!)
The interesting thing is that I got all the way back to DC on one full tank meaning that when i'm loping allong at 3500 rpm the gas milage must be close to 35mpg.
Its amazing how much fuel the car will gulp when its bouncing off the rev limiter all day
PS. Its also amazing that the car can be as strong as it it and STILL be able to get 35mpg. God I love Honda engineering

You fuel injected guys are annoying.
My RX-7 got 20mpg on the street and less than 10mpg on the track.

i got 9.3 mpg at the vir event in october....but then again if i did drive to the track i would have gotten 28-32 depending on how many street races i had!!

Yeah, fuel starvation is a bitch. I first notice it in the chicane out of turn five and I know that I have to pit in. On sunday there was a white M3 on my *** going into the uphill esses who must have thought I suddenly went retarded. I'm surprised he didn't give me the finger once we FINALLY got to the back straight

The "ubermotor" gets around 8mpg on a race weekend. Burns no more than a quart (usually half a quart). When I drove the car on the street I would get around 30 everywhere...city, highway, whatever.
Man I miss that. Driving a 454 Suburban daily at $1.55+/gallon is becoming painful. The tank holds 44 gallons. The truck gets 12mpg on a good tank with a grandmotherly right foot.
The clerks at fuel stations have started making fun of me.

What kind of disturbs me is I've never calculated it because my speedometer is disconnected. I could probably figure it out with track length but it's never even occured to me to do it until now. My gas consumption has more to do with putting enough in to make minimum weight and be able to finish the race. Interesting.
