Diamonds. I demo'd them against a lot of other brands before I bought them (Infinity, Boston Acoustics, Image Dynamics, Eclipse), and they stacked up well for the price. I've only heard the Focals in-store, never actually in a vehicle, but they sounded decent. I have 1 pair of 2 year old Hex's and 2 pairs of M5's, they rock. Extreme power handling, good midbass. A Phoenix Gold zx475 is pushing the M5's with a zx400 on the Hex's and they suck it all up and beg for more.
The aluminum tweeters take some getting used to in the M5's; if you mount them high it can feel like a power drill is boring into your brain, but they reproduce sound very well.

i added oz audio matrix to the list for ya. they are what i am using in my car right now. i have had many sets in my car, my last setup was image dynamics horns and mids. the oz sounds great, especially for the price i got ($106 on ebay) if you can find them for a good price i would definatly look into them.
the hex sound good, the older ones sound better imo.
the focals sound good, but not quite what i wanted personally.

Focals are made by Kenwood. I'm not crazy about Kenwood stuff. The Diamonds sound great. I just think Quarts are very smooth, that's why I like them.
Nothing can even touch Focals i am running 2 component sets the 165K2 and 136k and they are awesome, I am also running 750 RF watts into them. I dont really see anything coming close to the capabilities of these speakers except MB Quart and i just changed out form those lol. Go to ebay to find focals for cheap they have awesome price...cheaper than most shops cost!

No they are not made by Kenwood(lol) as said above they are french. anyways if they were made by kenwood, wouldnt you think that focals would sound shitty??

Since I'm only a trial user I can't vote in the poll yet but I'm going to put my unofficial vote with the Diamond Hex's. Iv'e been running them for 2 years & they still amaze me every time I turn up the volume. I've been running them off of a Pioneer Premier amp with it's birth certificate showing 291x2 RMS at 4 ohms 14.4VDC with no problems at all. I will put the stipulation on my vote that the silk dome component set sounds much better then the metal dome. The metal dome ones sound almost identical to the Focal's IMO, just a little too sharp sounding for my tastes. The ID horn seperates could be the best on the list but they need a bunch of EQ tweaking in order to have a chance.

Any system can benefit from an EQ. The problem is two fold:
1. Horns are often improperly installed (I've seen them installed backward before)
2. Early horn instals used bodies and drivers taken from PA and Home Audio applications....they simply were no suited for car audio.
I wouldn't use the entry level ID horns though (CD1Ve - I think) They use a Piezo style compression driver, not a true one like the Titanium and Mylar ones currently used.
BTW, I used to own the HEX....I'd call them above average - but not great. Very transparent, but my only gripe was that their midbass output lacked seriously. I personally like the a/d/s/ 3 series, although I'd like to audition the CDT EuroSports!!
