Default Infinity 6x9's....troubleshooting

I have a quick question for ya. I just got some Infinity 693.5i 6x9's for my car. I installed them tonight, put dynamat down and everything. I don't have an amp, just a Kenwood 8017 receiver (22 x 4 RMS). My question is: Why am I not getting more bass out of them? Honestly when I had my stock speakers in there it sounded like I got more bass then I am now. Is it because the new speakers have a 110W RMS and my head unit is only pushing 22W RMS? The mids and highs sound tons better, but the sound of the woofer just isn't impressing me....Anyone have any advice or suggestions?
Thanks!
-Ryan

Plain and simple. You need more power. Infinty speakers really need to be amped before they start amking bass. Then only ones i've heard sound good without an amp are the Kappa series.

I was thinking of getting those but I ended up getting Polks instead. The place I bought them from was sold out of the Infinity's and I couldn't wait for them to get new ones. Definitely get an amp so you can fully power the speakers. Your stock ones probably sounded better because most stock speakers have an RMS very close to what the head units produce where as other speakers usually have an RMS of much more. This made it so your stock speakers were being worked to their full potential but would probably not very powerful or would distort after a certain point. Once you get the right amp everything should work great.

Thanks Dave!
Yeah I am planning on getting the JL 300/4 to power both my 6x9's and my MB Quart PSD216 components in the front. Good amp? From what I've read it sounds good. Any other suggestions...limited budget here, so keep that in mind.
