2.??? Prelude
hey crew, got a fairly straight forward question. what is teh biggest possible size that i could get my engine to? 2.2 to a 2.4 unreasonable? if not, then how is it done, and what have those of you who have it noticed. more horses??? what, and who did you go through for a 2.4 bore. i want to go N/A but im affraid i wont reach my goal with a 2.2. when all is said and done, i wanna see a minimum of 300 horses. of course that is with 11:1 piston heads, every conceivable bolt on, ecu upgrade, and electronic gadget that i can get my hands on. thanks in advance fella's.
300 horsepower at the wheel is unreasonable for a 4 cyl n/a. it's possible as a crank hp figure. i'd say 2.4L is probably the biggest possible. someone on this board has done it, i forget his member name. its done with a combination of a stroker crank and bigger bore. the biggest possible bore on an h22 with aftermarket sleeves is 90mm w/o having head gasket sealing problems. so use the equation to get displacement using 90 mm as the bore and find out the stroke u need. you can go higher than 11:1 comp ratio too. you'll have to if u want that much hp.
talk to 2point6. he originally went through two different 2.6 stroker kits, and then did his own 2.4 for more reliability. he puts out 229whp (before euro-r manifold and something else I forgot now) with 12:1 compression and pretty much all the mods that you seem to have listed. so good luck with your 300hp.
your'e gonnn have to do a lot of mods to get 300 hp out of a honda. get higher compression, and tune everything i am prettyusre youll be able to get about 25-280hp, maybe not eve, but 300 is really high for a honda
its not that i dont like having a turbo fella's. i just think that going n/a would more challenging. im all up for a challenge, which is why i wanna go n/a. maybe a little later on down the line i'll get a turbo, but for now, whatever needs to be done to at least get close to 300 is what im gonna do. more power to the owners of a turbo charged lude.

here's some advice...I went the N/A route already...did everything your looking to do ecu swap, cams, S pistons, port n polished head, all the bolt ons etc etc...netted me just over 200 whp... Although the car is capable of high 13's it still cannot compete w most well built turbos. If your really serious about going fast get a turbocharger. If not go N/A but realize your gonna spend close to the same and your results won't even be close to the same...

300 WHP out of 2.2 liters without a turbo isnt going to happen. Think of it like this, 300 WHP is about roughly 350 or 375 crank HP which is about 175 HP per liter NA very diificult to achieve. My advice if you want that much HP get a Turbo..
