GSR swap, wont start!!! obd1 goru's help please!
alright, I made my own obd0-1 conversion harness using Storminmatts instructions...When I go to crank up the car, it'll just keep cranking. The starter will have little random pauses like it is about to start. Also, my CEL is on, I jumped the service connector and it didnt work! is there any other way for me to check my codes??? any help please!
oh yea, I forgot to add, when I crank it for about 5 seconds, smoke comes out of the throttle body(intakes not hooked up yet)...i hope this is ok? also, when the key is in the position to turn on the fuel pump, I can hear it turn on and then off, but then I also hear another humming sound that doest stop unless I take out the key....

Wonder if your Main relay is fried??? maybe get a buddies' to test it?
As for jumper... you must have done some wiring wrong. I followed storminmatt's instructions to a T, and it worked fine. However, on the first startup it took a while to crank over. Don't know about the smoke in the throttle body.

im pretty sure my relay is fine, I can hear it...the humming sound sounds like it's coming for the IAB? it's not even plugged in yet so maybe that's it...I just got inside from messin around with the car again, and I swear it sounds like it wants to start, but is havin trouble.
The first thing you need to do is a complete check of your wiring. Specifically, you need to see if each ECU pin does indeed have continuity with the appropriate pin under the hood. This goes a long way toward determining if you made any mistakes. In this particualr case, I would pay VERY close attention to the distributer wiring.
Yup what he said go through nice and slow and check all the wiring. As well as all your grounds.
My swap wouldn't start at first almost the same as what your describing. Well I forgot to run the ground for the starter
. Ran it, and she cranked right up. Good luck.

first of all check the timing if thats ok check the spark and fuel. try taking of the fuel return line and make sure its flowing. When i put my motor in the thing had sat so long my injectors froze up. If the gas is flowing through the return line put some of it into a spray bottle and spray it through the throttle body. then try to start it. if the injectors are clogged it will fire and stop when the gas is gone.
the humming sound if its in the driver foot well is the main relay.

i need an obd1 relay? im using a chipped 95 gsr ecu with and obd1 dist. and obd0 injectors(w/ resistor box)
I've done the conversion with my friend back in 99... The main relays are different for 89-91 civics and OBD1 tegs. Take a look at your helms...
My civic has 2000 SiR motor and I'm running OBD0. Too much BS with conversions. To be honest, I think PR3 is better in my opinion. Oxygen sensors for OBD 0 are way better than the OBD1.

UPDATE: cranked her over some more just now, my friend was here with me too and he said he saw a flame shoot out of the throttle body, ahaha, i dunno whats goin on here...at least i know i have fuel and spark...right now im in the process of buying a pre-made obd0-1 harness from DIY_Racing.
Don't worry about the relays. If your car had no electrical problems before then relays are not the answer. Your wiring must be messed up somewhere. I did a b18c swap into my crx last year and used a obd0-obd1 harness from blownhatch. I also used the write up about obd0-obd1 by storminmatt for injectors, distributor, etc. I added the extra wires from the conversion harness to the knock, vtec, 02 sensor, etc. and start it up with no problems at all. Never touched any relays or anything.
You PMed Mr. S See Are X, sorry he's out right now so I PMed you the page/grfx we used to do the OBDI swap - HTH

damn damn damn...somethings wrong here...I rewired everything back to obd0 and it's doing the same thing. It sounds like it's about to start but wont, smoke comes out of the throttle body and sometimes even a flame. What the hell is goin on?! Someone at my work was sayin something about my intake valves opening early or closing late? somthing like that...this could be true since I do have skunk2 cam gears which were hard as a bitch to get to TDC, right now it's like a half a tooth off. I even had a tech. from Acura set it to TDC, thats the best he could get it.
dude it sounds like your timing is fucked... if anything is coming out of the TB than you are getting spark before the intake valves are closed... and about the smioke... maybe your timing is so bad that it sparks while your intake valves are just opening and then on the exhaust stroke they are just closing... i dono other than that... but there shouldnt be anything coming out of the intake... check your vaccume lines too...
