Default With so many differnet opinions........(Once again a header question)

Sorry to do this to you guys again, but what is the best header for an N/A gsr powered hatch? I have asked this and got many different responses, but thats not the thing that surprised and/or baffeled me. What did confuse me was the opinions about different headers. "DC is the best" "DC is the worst" "JDM ITR kicks ***" "4-1 is the best setup" 4-2-1 is the best" Anyways with so many different opinions, can anyone tell me with proof perhaps which has the best flow for my setup???? If you are fed up with these posts i understand, but even after reading many and creating one header post, i still am at square one!

Do not ask anybody here... just go on the web and see various dyno tests and compare... Why? I have DC and i believe is the best, my brother has apexi and he believe is better and a friend of mine thas has spoon believes that are the best ever made! Whatever we have is the BEST

You Need to do your own Research!

It all depends On How much money you have And What your goals are!

I know these kinda questions get asked everyday and i know for you veteran h-t members that it can get rather annoying, but this is still a tech site right?

you have to specify more. what internals do you have? what are your goals, hp wise? how much money are you trying to spend? etc. this helps in determining what you should get.

if you want top end go with DC 4-1

or

if you want low end go with DC 4-2-1

i mean seriously, headers are headers, its not gonna matter much wich brand or company u pick cause in reallity they are all pretty much the same. there isnt one special header thats gonna give u mad power.

I realize that, but some say they actually loose power or cant feel any difference with certain header setups and i dont want to pay 500.00 for that.

I should have said, "what header are you guys running" this way i can get a idea of what to get......although i really want to try and go with 5zigen since they arnt widely used, actually come to think of it i have only maybe seen one person with this?!?

not "mad" power, but there are differences in headers(variances of 20+hp in places).

for your setup i would say DC sports 4-1.

edit: typo

we dont have alot of options in cali. due to CARB..but for u there s a ton of opportunities..test a couple yrs ago found the DC to give the best performance gains..i was hog heaven cuz i had one..but since, ive found that most headers are all about the same..and learn d a few things too..

if ur one to be driving around the 5-6k mark alot id opt for the 4-1 design..on the other hand the 4-2-1 will give u the best results in the low to mid rpm ranges

since CARB isnt an issue to u..look for the best quality and determine the type of driving u do the most..that ll pretty much tell u what kind to get

not all headers are equal..but there are more similarities than difference s in performance..u wont notice the difference..the stainless are so pretty and when they start to turn green, they re absolutely gorgeous

DEEP NITE : On that same note, i am going with the 4-2-1, but why do most people have 4-1? Wouldnt the 4-2-1 be overall better in short distances like 1/8 mile runs?

Also can any one give any info at all about the 5zigen header?

4-2-1 will give you more low-end power (low rpms), but you will not gain as much high range (high rpms).

4-1 will give you more high-range power, but not as much low-end.

it just depends on what kind of driving you like to do. if you are in vtec alot i would go 4-1.

edit: as for the 5zigen, i'll have to leave that up to someone else.

not neccessarilly true..if ur going to be shifting at high rpms ull still get better results with a 4-1..there s probably a good reason why ur going with the 4-2-1 though..i would guess that it match s the style of driving ur doing 90% of the time ie. around town driving and spending alot of time commuting

personally i think that alot of guys are using the 4-1 s don t really need it..just needing that extra flow every now and then to impress..the other time its just overkill, eating up some torque ud rather have in ur stop and go daily driving
