I'm thinking about purchasing a compressor and there's an 8 gallon 115 psi compressor for 100 bucks. Would this suffice for most jobs including crank pulley removal? TIA

probably not.
volume doesnt mean much. Its all about CFM and most of the time the more
volume, the more cfm. I would recommend at least a 30 gallon compressor.
Ya.. expect to get at least a 30 gallon if you want to be able to do any serious stuff.. I can't imagine an 8 gallon being good for anything besides running a 3/8" air tool and filling your tires w/ air..

Yep. I figured as much. Hey SGT. You know off hand what the torque spec is for the crank pulley? When putting it back on, Should I use any loctite?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Ahhh, Good old Harbor Freight.
CFM at a given pressure and the HP of the compressor motor are better specs to look at.
3 hp and over 5 CFM at 90 PSI will do you fine (although it won't be enough to run a really big air wrench)
Another way to look at is is to look at the CFM reguirements of the biggest tool you want to run and see if the compressor meets or exceeds that. You WILL be surprised at how much air some tools need.
I have a 3hp Central Pnumatic compressor from Harbor Freight and its been sufficient to paint three cars so far but it CANT drive big air tools (which pisses me off)
Hope this helps

6.2SCRM @ 90PSI is our track/portable compressor. 6.2SCFM isn't ****, I can't imagine the hell of trying to work with a 5SCFM @90 PSI compressor (oh yeah I can, "give me that breaker bar" since I'd be using handtools a lot). 5SCFM with a gun will work for changing wheels though..
my impact does 550-600 reverse lbft and uses like 7-8 cfm
my 30 gal pushes about 8-9cfm i think.
electric impacts suck, unless its the snap on.... i need to get me one of those

gotta find out what warranty is on those. The guns we use are all 550lbft or more
of course, soon we will have a 15-16csfm compressor... <eg>
