desperately need help with suspension!
hi,
i drive a 93 prelude vtec, and am in the process of switching out my suspension to a sports suspension. i was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on brands, etc. i have a grand to spend.. i am hoping to be able to do an entire suspension swap so i can handle better (and get rid of that gross space in between my wheel well and my tires).
i have 17" rims on the car at the moment and just bought some energy polyeurethane bushings.. i was thinking on the line of coilovers.. probably can't afford tein. so far i heard i need to get new springs, shocks, struts.. (what's the diff b/w shocks and struts?) some brands people have thrown out are tokico, kyb, skunk, and eibach.. what else do i need? which brands/combination works the best on the 93 lude? and would you recommend getting it installed professionally? or is it do-able in my own garage? (i've had people say that it's a pain in the @$$ to install on your own.. and some that say to just rent a spring compressor). i appreciate any advice i can get. thanks!

well honestly, thats a large budget. if i were you go with Tein. they are an excellent company, and makes some really great products. also if you get the SS or HA dampers, they are coilovers, so the ride hieght is adjustable. if you have any more questions, or need anymore suggestions, AOL niceweelz. ill help ya out.

I would go w/Ground Control coilovers and KYB agx dampers or koni Yellow dampers.
You will still have money to spare, and have full ride height, and damper adjustability.

You can install the suspension if you are mechanically inclines. Also the Chicagoland Prelude Club guys would probably be willing to help as well. With $1k I'd get Teins or Koni Yellows with Ground Control coilovers. If you want the URL for the CPC PM me.

i suggest you get it professionally installed.
what about camber kits? i'll need to adjust that, but how do i know how much i'll need to adjust for? should i go with ingalls? oh, and i know this might sound dumb.. but will need to buy shocks with that tein damper kit? or is that what the adjustable shock absorbers are? i still have a lot to learn on the subject.. thanks for putting up with me!

Why? Those 12 bolts and nuts aren't exactly hard to unscrew. You just need soemone to push down on the suspension while you get the shock/spring combo out of position and the Teins back in. Are the Teins different?

as for camber, it depend on how much you drop your car. you'll need it if your droppin it low or slamming it.
