carbs & itb's make more air available at higher rpms, so vtec must RIP!

but when vtec hits, its still getting the same amount of fuel and would probably lean out especially at high RPM's. sik car though!

For what that car has, the times aren't very impressive. I've seen EGs in So Cal with less mods and more weight running very similar times.

Maybe if it was in a higher elevation....

Doubt it, probably some mudders. They look much too big. That car must sound awesome.

Uh, no. The more air it gets the more fuel gets pulled in, it should have a fine a/f ratio, people have been tuning carbs forever so this should be a big problem.

uh,yes. the more air pulled in doesnt mean the more fuel. carbs rely on the pressure differential created by a venturi to draw fuel from the float bowl via the various jets and circuits. By their nature these components cause a restriction to air flow, and contribute to pumping losses. The disadvantage of venturis is that, while a venturi of a certain size may be necessary to provide low speed driveability it then acts as a restriction at high RPM. throttle bodies flow so much more air than a carburetor of the same size. In efi when vtec kicks in the ecu tell the injectors to add more fuel where as carbs would flow the same even at high rpms where vtec is alive most of the time.

Wow...12.7...that's not fast for the amount of money I'm sure was spent on that car.

Not seeing that much here, isn't there a SOHC hatch that runs 10s NA?

12.7 is just plain SLOW.

We were doing that with a STOCK GSR motor in an EG.
