Question to those who have an oil cooler laying around...
I found a larger oil filter that may fit the R without a problem (same thread size... 20x1.5mm). Does anyone know if the oil cooler surface area (where the filter gasket meets the oil cooler) will allow a larger diameter gasket? Is there enough surface area for a larger gasket to not allow a leak? Factory/standard size filter gasket is about 2.48" in outside diameter. The larger filter I found has a gasket outside diameter of 2.83". Thanks.
Thanks to D and his filter mount measurements, the larger gasketed oil filter should seal fine.
D8400RPM: filter housing OD is 3.150"
D8400RPM: .3325" between the OD of the OEM gasket (which is this formula...(3.15 - 2.48) / 2 ) and the outer diameter of the flange on the block.
So, that being said, this filter should seal no problem.

i measured the oil cooler today
the seating area was just about 70-72mm(hadnt had pot of coffee yet)
i think you MIGHT be able to seat a gasket with diam of 75mm but thats pushing it.

The other alternative might be to use the oil cooler from the Prelude, it is larger. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think that it will work.
BTW, I also have one for sale
IM me if you are intersted
