Default B or Z?

I've been trying to track down a B20Z lately but I haven't had any luck. Most places (hmo, jdmhondaparts) don't have them now or won't ever have them. Should I wait it out for a Z or just go with a B20B? I don't plan to do a lot of mods (Type-R IM, I/H/E, light flywheel) to this engine so that's why I wanted to get the better out-of-the-box engine. Does anyone know any place that's stocked with Z's right now?

Get a JDM B20B. Same as the USDM B20Z.

Really? ****, I'm stupid. I thought the B20B was the 8.8 CR version in Japan, too. Thanks!

Are you sure? HondaHYBRID makes no mention of such a difference between the USDM and JDM engines. They list all B20B's as the 126hp, 8.8CR version.

I'm pretty sure B20B is 8.8 cr without vtec and B20Z has like 10:1 cr w/vtec. I think that's about right.

My JDM B20B has a 9.6 compression ratio according to Steve @ HMO, and it did not come with the giraffe style manifold . It came STOCK with the LS style IM. Is there any other way i can check the compression ratio? Ive know of a USDM B20b with cheep header intake exhaust and chip that runs 14.3s, he shifts @ 8k and has the long gear LS tranny, check em out over in the superhonda.com forum CRX. AC CRX is his name. I have herd that 92-93 LS cams are hotter then the 90-91 LS cams, the 90-91 LS put 140hp out and the 93-93 is 150. the difference is the intake cam.

Yeah, definitely no stock B20's w/VTEC. Maybe I'll call Steve at HMO. Thanks, guys.

Passwordjdm.com lists the JDM B20B as having a 9.6:1 CR. Who's right?

I've got a USDM b20b in my crx.

Took it dragging, keep in mind I am very likely to be the worst dragger in the wide world.

with some mods, IM, crower cams, header, exhaust untuned hit about 95mph at the end of the track. got about 15.3-4 ET because of massive wheelspin and marvelous 2.5-2.6 60ft times.

damn them skinny 185 tires.

Etier b or z is a fun fun FUN setup. If the b's are a lot cheaper just get a b.

What tranny was that with? B20Z with I/H/E with an LS trans generally traps around 92-94mph. If you are using any of the shorter geared trannies , if you get those cams tuned you should trap around 97-99mph I would think, if not higher.
