My transmission sometimes makes a vibrating noise not grinding the gears but just accelerating I can hear a light dragging....my friends civic92-95 does the same thing and his has just gotten louder over time.....
well the weird thing is it only does it sometimes....if you have any ideas let me know

i have heard our trannies are known for whinning, so amybe that is it. change the fluid woudl be my best guess as of now.

 

could be bearings starting to show age. I am in that boat right now.

 

is yours making noises now or did the bearings go bad?

 

I've been driving on noisy bearings for 80k miles, they wont break on you for a while. They just sound terrible. Start with draining your tranny fluid and putting in a thick motor oil like 14w-40, see what happens.

 

If it is indeed your bearings, there is no 'prevention', it is a disease.

 

first thing to do if replace your tranny fluid with honda mtf.

do you by any chance hear the noise when you're resting your hand on the gear shift?
