Feedback on Ferodo DS2500
What do u guys think about this kinda pads? I'm looking for new brake pads right now for both daily driving and autocrossing up here in Vancouver, BC.
I'm using Project Mu BESTOP on my 99' civic hb currently and they works really well on initial braking. And the temperature range 0-400c is enough for everyday & autocross use. Thinking about buying that again or Endless NA-Y(but the temp range is 50-350c as I remember) or the DS2500. Probably the only 3 kinds of brake pads that I would consider.
Anyone of u guys use the DS2500 for the same purpose(daily driving & auto-x)?

I just drove Andie's S2000 last night with a prototype Cobalt GT-Sport compound and they were wicked!! Give him a shout, I think he said they would be out very soon.
I'd ask him to make a Expedition application, but it would prob. pop-out the windshield
ah, ford quality...

Yeah someone recommended him also but I wanna get some user feedback on these pads. How much they cost, and would they chew up their rotors fast etc...
I've got friends who used them(the DS2500) in HK but since it's a lot warmer than we do here in Vancouver BC. I have hear some good feedback for their weather over there. But when they feel it has good cold bite may not be enough here for us.

I was checking the dates on this thread, and it is strange that no one has posted in response to the original post/inquiry...any now nearly 5 months later...must have slipped through the cracks.
The Ferodo DS2500 is an excellent high-performance compound, even when used in cold weather. The Axxis Ultimate and Cobalt GT-Sport are other compounds in this same performance category. Among these three compounds, the Ferodo DS2500 has the best on-street performance, especially in colder weather. While all three of these compounds operate best with over 100F in the compound, in winter type weather (I'm originally from Michigan, so i'm thinking of ambient temperatures of 20-30F), the Ferodo DS2500 will operate better than the Axxis Ultimate or the Cobalt GT-Sport for street driving. I feel the Ferodo DS2500 operates better due to its high brass content, which provides better heat uniformity, especially in cold weather. This being said, in cold weather, the OE-Honda compound will be the best choice.
For daily driving on the S2000, I use the Ferodo DS2500 in the front, and the Axxis Ultimate in the rear. I occasionally swap other compounds into this vehicle for testing, but for every day driving, the Ferodo DS2500 is my first choice for high-performance street driving on the S2000. For other vehicles with smaller rotor and pad configurations (e.g. Honda Civic), the Axxis Ultimate is a better solution.

Bringing this thread back from the dead
I found that after 1/2 day of lapping at Gingerman the DS2500s on my ITR caused the car to shake very bad. I'm a rookie, so I asked some of the guys there that knew better (at first I insisted that I warped my rotors) They all suggested that it was "Pad Deposits" on my rotors that was causing the problem. The rest of the afternoon wasn't very much fun... after about 3 laps the shaking would return and I'd have to park it to let them cool again. After I got back home, I swaped my stock pads back on and the shaking did not exist, confirming that the rotors were not warped after all.
This year I'm going to use a dedicated rotor and pad setup for the track. I noticed that on cobaltfriction.com, you no longer sell the Ferodo pads? Was I the only one to have a negative experience with them, or is my experience pretty standard.....?
Any suggestions on which pad to use this year? I'd really... really... really would like to avoid the pad deposits nightmare I had to endure last year.

Swapping a track pad and stock pad back and forth on the same rotor is usually a bad idea.
Best to get a dual purpose pad, or swap rotors along with the pads for the track.

The DS2500 is a street pad. The fact that it didn't work for you on the track doesn't really say anything about Ferodo in general. At least I hope not, since I just ordered a set of DS3000 for the back of my car

Brake pads are like religions. There's lots of them and all of them work for at least some people.
Honestly, I'd guess you would be fine with any real race pad (not one of the so-called "street/track" pads) and a set of dedicated rotors to go with them.
I hate to recommend specific manufacturers and compounds for 2 reasons: one is the religion thing, that is, what works for me might not be right for you; and there are 2 guys that work for brake pad manufacturers that visit this board fairly regularly. Most of the manufacturers make a compound for "Improved Touring" or "showroom stock" cars and one of those would be a good place to start. A compound intended for Cup cars or LMPs probably wouldn't be a good choice even if came in the right outline for your car.

Thanks Joel, that was exactly what I was looking for. I wasn't aware that the DS2500 was not well suited to the track... I figured for as much as they dusted and squeeled, they must be a track pad

When I wrote that I had just gotten off the phone with ferodo's US distributor and my buddy there called it a street (or maybe street/track) pad, but on the ferodo web site they call it a race pad.
What really matters is it didn't work for you.

Sorry to bump this thread up again.
I've already switched from a DX h/b to a 99-00 Civic EM1 coupe myself. I've been using Project U(Mu) pads all these years and now I needed some new front pads again.
Did anyone used these DS2500 front pads on their 99-00 Si afterall? Coz I'm not even sure if they make the size for the weird front calipers we have(not the same as the front calipers on Jap spec EK4's). I know they made the DS3000 compound coz Cobalt friction mentioned that they brought some in before. But now they aren't listing them on their website no more.
So just wonder if anyone used the DS2500 on their 99-00 Si and if so where u got them from? Pls let me know, TIA!

IMO Axxis Ultimates are superior to DS2500's once you factor in the price. DS2500's were noisy as hell on my M3(at least as loud as my Carbotech Panther Plus when they get "kinda up to temp") and they didn't have any higher heat capacity than the Ultimates from what I could tell. They seemed to leave worse deposits on the rotors when you overheat them as well.
After burning all the way through the pads I just didn't feel they were that good of a deal, even though I got them for *really* cheap(knew a guy that helped import them into the US).
IMO - for AutoX stick with the stock Honda pads, Ultimates, or some AEM pads(seriously, they're good pads, I used them on my Integra and was really impressed, have OE like behavior with slightly more friction and no more dust - awesome street pad).

Thanks for your reply.
I go to lapping events at Pacific Raceway in WA once in awhile now. I wanted to try out Ferodo myself is because my friends gave very good feedback on their products.
So I want to know if they ever made these kinda front pads for 99-00 Si at all. If not, I would probably get HAWK HPS or HP+ & spend some other $ on a set of Black Diamond/Tarox front rotors.
