What is the difference between intake camshafts, and exhaust camshafts? I did a search, and couldn't figure it out.

I have a Civic EX 00, and I was looking to get an intake camshaft, but Im not too sure about the difference between the two, or really where the exhaust camshaft goes. What does an aftermarket exhaust camshaft do for your ride?

um.... you've only got ONE cam, so there is no such thing as an intake and exhasut cam in your car, you have A SINGLE CAM, there are no other options

yes, if you have a SOHC motor it's an overhead valve engine with one cam, it has both exhaust and intake lobes. i aggree witht he other guys when they say be more specfic. i can sit here and tell you all day long about cams..

 

all it does is open the valves more. letting more air in and out in-turn making more power.
