Ground Control Install Question??
I just boughtr a set of GC, and are putting on a 89RexSi, In the rear the instructions state to cut bump stop in half, Mines already new and approx. 1.5 in.
and cut dust boot to where you have 1 inch left, Is that one inch enough to cover the shaft?
On the whole Rubber washer deal, I got the blk wrap around and your suppose to put only 1? washer in midlle and slide sleve over, Just one?
Stupid question, But the dust guard is prob. 6 inches long, and they say to make it 1 inch long? Just a couple of doubts, hoping someone could help.

th gc instructions are weak. they show the wrong bumpstop that come on later civics. unless you are running real low, no need to cut the normal barrel bumpstop. you can cut it up to 1/2 length tho.
as for the black spacer and the orings, i put two orings, one in the midde, one at the bottom on each shock. but one would have been fine. you just need to provide a snug fit.
as for the dustboot, i dont know, i left it off, no big deal. youd have to cut em real short so that they dont collapse into the gc sleeve that i dont tihnk it would be effective anyway was a boot. an alternative to protecting the shock tube is to use the steering rack accordian boots if you desire.

Good Look, Thanks for the input, The only real issue Im concerned with is the Dust boot, If its cut, how will it shield from dirt? Can Dirt **** it up or shorten life of strut? Probally, but the steering boot is a good idea, best one I've heard of, I put the right rear in last night, not the easiest task, but I have 250's in the rear, and 380/90 in front, The rear is Bouncy, I'll do the front tonight, I was just curious about the bounce. And what others thought.
the bounce is just from the lack of damping from shocks. i hope you got some decent shocks, or else the bouncing will get worse. stiffness is expected, but not bounce.
i find that how the good rear suspension performance is more related to the ride quality. last week i went from my road race setup 450f/900r and only had time to swap the rear suspesnion back to stock so i still hadthe 450 up front and the car rode quite comfortably.

You can cut the bump stops in half and forget the dust covers. I've never reused them on any of the cars with Koni "yellow" Sport shocks. No problems on the Civic after 3 years of daily use. Prelude and CRX are fine too. If you bought the GC's that go on anything other than a Koni-then you want to use the O-rings to center the shock inside the sleeve. This is the same for GC and Skunk, btw. Ideal setup is to use 1 near the bottom ~1" up and the same distance down on top. You may need to use a bit of lubricant such as WD40 or Silicone spray to get them on. Just my experience.
